Receiving international payments

The below guidelines provide information on how to receive international payments, fees and charges that apply and other things you need to know in order to receive your money quickly and seamlessly.

How to receive international payments

To receive an international payment, you will need to provide the overseas sender with the following information:

  • Bank name: ANZ
  • SWIFT Code: ANZBAU3M
  • Your ANZ account number, including BSB
  • Your full name and address (PO Boxes cannot be used)

When receiving international payments in a foreign currency, please check our published exchange rates to calculate the approximate Australian Dollar amount you will receive.

Fees and charges

Fees charged by ANZ for processing inbound international payments to your ANZ account are: up to $15 per payment.

Fees charged by ANZ may be deducted from the payment amount, in accordance with the instruction from the sending bank.

It is also possible for the sending bank to request that ANZ charge the fees back to the sending bank, instead of deducting the fees from the payment amount.

Intermediary banks may deduct fees from the payment amount prior to the inbound international payment being received by ANZ.

To obtain an indicative calculation of the amount of an inbound international payment in foreign currency, please refer to our foreign exchange calculator.

Things you need to know

We will credit the funds from an international payment (less fees deducted) into your ANZ account on the same day the funds are received by ANZ, provided:

  • The payment is received within ANZ’s payment processing hours;
  • ANZ is not required to manually intervene with the payment (for example, due to missing information);
  • The sending bank has provided sufficient funding for the payment to be processed; and
  • The payment does not contravene ANZ’s internal policies, or any Anti-Money Laundering or Counter-Terrorism Financing laws and sanctions.

By following ANZ’s guidelines for receiving international payments, you increase your chances of receiving your payment quickly and seamlessly.
