Career

Pedro was appointed Group Executive, Australia Retail on 17 November 2025.

Pedro bringing his deep expertise in digital innovation, disciplined execution, and customer-first strategy to help shape the future of banking in Australia. 

Pedro has more than three decades of global banking experience and a track record of transformative leadership across markets including the UK, Australia, US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, Spain, Portugal, China, Brazil, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and the UAE. 

Prior to ANZ, Pedro was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led multi-decade engagements with leading banks. 

Pedro enjoys spending time on the ground with branch teams and call centres, helping to unlock performance through practical tools, clear priorities, and energising leadership. 

As McKinsey’s Japan Chairman, Pedro led 700 colleagues to shift from loss to profitability in just 18 months. He also served as Global Co-Leader of McKinsey’s Banking Practice, mobilizing partners worldwide to deliver transformative outcomes. 

Before joining McKinsey, Pedro worked in M&A at Goldman Sachs in London and in venture capital in Portugal, building a strong foundation in strategic finance and investment. 

Pedro holds an MBA (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School and BA in Management from the Catholic University of Portugal.
