Stephen White

Career

Stephen was appointed Group Executive, Operations on 29 October 2025.

Stephen is an internationally experienced Chief Operations Officer and Executive Director with more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, information technology, customer experience and management consulting and a wealth of knowledge across transformation, operations, technology, customer service, financial crime, digitisation, procurement and cyber.

Most recently Chief Operations Officer, Santander UK, based in London, Stephen played a pivotal role in shaping operational strategy and transformational change across the organisation. Prior to this, Stephen served as interim Chief Executive Officer at Yorkshire Building Society and Chief Operating Officer at Yorkshire Building Society. He has also held senior Operations roles at Allied Irish Bank Group and National Australia Bank where he was based in Melbourne.

As Group Executive, Operations and member of ANZ’s Executive Committee, Stephen is responsible for operations across ANZ which includes our Divisional Operations, Banking Services, the Group Capability Centre (GCC), Property, Procurement, Operations Strategy and Execution, and Transformation teams. Stephen’s leadership is pivotal to deliver a consistent catalogue of services, streamline operations, create greater alignment, and support our divisions more effectively across ANZ.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree from the University of Edinburgh.
