New customers - moving to Australia

Opening a bank account before moving to Australia could help make the transition a little easier. If you are currently overseas but are planning to move to Australia, you can apply for an ANZ Access Advantage account prior to your arrival. You would have the ability to transfer funds to the account before you leave home and be ready to receive payments once you arrive. Once you arrive, simply visit an ANZ branch to complete the Customer Identification Process and you will be able to withdraw funds from your account.

To apply online for a personal ANZ everyday bank account or savings account you must:

  • be available to complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process or be an existing ANZ customer.
  • use the account for personal use only (not to be used as a business account).

To open a new account, select the account that is right for you and we will take you directly to the online application form. The online application will take about 5-10 minutes to complete.

Please note: An ANZ Online Saver account, it must be linked to an eligible ANZ account with ANZ Internet and/or ANZ Phone Banking access, for which terms and conditions and fees and charges apply.

 

What happens after you apply online?

  1. You should receive an email confirming your new account details, and giving any further instructions.
  2. If you are a new ANZ customer you will need to complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process.
  3. When you receive your card you will need to activate it before you start using it. A PIN advice will be mailed within five business days after the card is issued.

You may be able to manage your account through ANZ Phone Banking, ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Mobile Phone Banking. Before you can use these services, you will need to obtain a customer registration number (CRN) and Telecode. Call us to register for these services on 13 33 50, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

New ANZ customers

If you are a new ANZ customer, you’ll need to complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process in a branch before you can register for ANZ Phone and Internet Banking.

Existing ANZ customers

If you are an existing customer that has already set up ANZ Phone and Internet Banking, then your new account will be linked to your existing CRN. ANZ Customer Service will complete this when they open your new account.
