Several factors are at play in the resources, energy and infrastructure sector amid the ongoing global energy transition.
But in our view, the sector’s standout theme of 2026 will be growth.

At ANZ, we continue to see a great opportunity in renewable energy, particularly in battery storage solutions. And as an inbound investment destination for our customers offshore, Australia continues to be very attractive.
We’re also confident in the outlook for the mining sector, and in gold in particular as demand for the precious metal rises. We’re working to help existing and prospective customers take advantage of this trend.
In our view
ANZ is the leading institutional bank in the region, with experts in close to 30 markets in the Asia Pacific and around the globe. Our new series, In our view, aims to bring that expertise directly to you, providing the ideas you need to succeed in your area of business in an era of uncertainty and opportunity.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing forward-looking insights into themes such as the macroeconomy, digitisation, and shifting realities of trade, helping businesses position themselves to take advantage of these trends.

In the infrastructure sector, many of ANZ’s clients across road, rail, airports and ports, are looking to execute on large-scale capital expenditure programs. We’re seeing the same trend in electricity transmission and distribution.
That makes diversifying debt sources important, and we’re working hard to ensure we help these businesses access different funding sources, both in Australia and offshore.
ANZ is looking forward to what will be another exciting year in RE&I.
