If you’re a new ANZ customer, we’re required by law to verify your identify before we can activate your accounts.

Our online ID check lets you complete this quickly and securely, without the need to visit a branch.

Resuming your online ID check

If you’ve already applied for an account, but not yet completed your online ID check, you can resume this step by clicking on the link below. Your online ID check will remain available for 90 days after completing your online application.

You’ll need the reference number we sent you by SMS or email when you’re ready to get started.

How online ID check works?

When you apply for an ANZ deposit account, credit card or personal loan, we’ll give you the option to complete your identification check online. Then, using your computer or smartphone, simply complete the information requested.

We’ll check the information you provide with our registered external agencies to confirm that it matches their records. This includes checking your ID details electronically and in real time.

What happens if online ID check does not work for you?

From time to time, it’s not possible to match your personal information with the records held by external government and non-government agencies. This can happen for a range of reasons, such as a recent move of address or insufficient information held with the external agencies.

Should online ID check not work for you, the staff at one of our branches would be happy to help you complete this. You can use the ANZ Branch Finder to find the ANZ branch closest to you.
