Delete a Pay Anyone payee

Your Pay Anyone payee list is comprised of the recipients you have saved in order to make Pay Anyone payments to them in the future.

There are two ways to delete a payee from your Pay Anyone payee list.

To delete a payee from your payee list, you’ll need to be logged in to ANZ Internet Banking.

Option 1 – Delete a payee from your payee list

Step 1 – Navigate to “Manage payees”

  • Go to the “Profile” menu.
  • Select “Manage payees”.

Step 2 – Delete the payee

  • Find the payee you wish to delete after doing the follow:
    • Looking through your payees; or
    • Filtering your payees using the filter textbox (look for the magnifying glass).
      • Enter characters of your payee’s nickname or any payment type
  • Select “Delete” on the payee you wish to delete.
  • You will see a message to confirm that you wish to delete the payee and all of payment types you’ve saved for them.
  • To delete the payee, select “Delete”.  
  • You will be returned to your Pay Anyone payee list.
Option 2 – Delete a payee after reviewing their details

Step 1 – Navigate to “Manage payees”

  • Go to the “Profile” menu.
  • Select “Manage payees”

Step 2 – Delete the payee

  • Select the payee you wish to delete after doing the following:
    • Looking through your payees; or
    • Filtering your payees using the filter textbox (look for the magnifying glass).
      • Enter characters of your payee’s nickname or any of their payment types
  • Select the “Edit” link on the payee.
  • Review the payee that you wish to delete, then select “Delete”.
  • You will see a message to confirm that you wish to delete the payee and all of payment types you’ve saved for them.
  • To delete the payee, select “Delete”.
  • You will be returned to your Pay Anyone payee list.
Why can't I delete a payee?

You cannot delete a payee if you have future or recurring payment/s scheduled to any of the payment types you’ve saved for them.

  • For example, if you have recurring payments scheduled to a payee, that payee cannot be deleted.
  • You must first cancel any scheduled payments to that payee.

If you wish to edit a future dated or recurring payment, the request must be lodged with ANZ Internet Banking prior to 11.59pm Melbourne time on the day prior to the payment date.

Can I delete a payee with future dated payments to them?

No. You can’t delete a payee if you have upcoming future dated payments scheduled to them. You’ll need to delete them before you delete the payee.

What happens to the payment type/s I’ve saved for a payee when I delete that payee?

When you delete a payee all of the payment type/s that you’ve saved for them will be deleted as well.

Do I need to delete a payee if any of their payment type/s are no longer valid?

If any payment type/s you’ve saved for a payee is no longer valid or no longer represent the payee, you should remove the payment type/s or edit the payment type/s to reflect the payee’s details.

Please note that if you remove the only saved payment type for a payee it will delete the payee.

Is there a quick way to select and delete multiple payees at once?

While you can’t select and delete multiple payees at the same time, it is quick and easy to delete payees without leaving your payee list. To do this, follow the steps to Delete a payee from your payee list

Why won't it let me delete my payee?
  • You cannot delete a payee if there is a future or recurring payment scheduled for that payee.
  • You must first cancel the scheduled payment(s).

Can I retrieve the payee details again once it is deleted?

No. Once you delete the payee, their details will be immediately removed from your payee list. You will need to re-enter the details if you want to transfer to this payee in the future.
