Change my Pay Anyone limit

Your daily limit applies to Pay Anyone payments, international services (transferring funds overseas, purchasing international bank drafts), the purchasing of bank cheques and online charity donations.

  • The daily limits range from $1,000 to $500,000 depending on the type of customer you are.
  • Only the limits available to you will display in the "Change your limit" section of the "Change Pay Anyone access" page.

Changing your Pay Anyone daily limit is easy.

  • Go to the "Pay and transfer" menu.
  • Select "Pay Anyone".
  • Click on the "Change Pay Anyone access" link at the top of the page and follow the steps below.

Alternatively you can:

  • Go to the "Update details" menu.
  • Select "Change Pay Anyone access" and follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Select your new daily limit and click "Change my limit"
  • Select your new daily limit from the "Change your limit" section using the radio button.

Change my Pay Anyone daily limit

  • The daily limits for personal customers range from $1,000 to $10,000 while business customers can apply for $5,000 to $25,000 in ANZ Internet Banking. ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers can apply for up to $500,000.
  • Only the limits available to you will be displayed.
  • Click on the "Change my limit" button when you are happy with your daily limit choice.
Step 2 - Activate your new daily limit

After you choose a daily limit the next steps vary depending on the limit chosen.

Daily limit of $1,000
  • After you click "Change my limit", your new daily limit will be immediately available.
Daily limit of $5,000
  • If you requested a daily limit of $5,000 you can enter your action number on:
    • the "Pay Anyone access" page if you are registering for Pay Anyone or
    • the "Change my Pay Anyone access" page if you are changing your existing limit.
  • After you successfully submit the action number your requested daily limit will be available once you log off ANZ Internet Banking and log on again.
Daily limit of $10,000 or more
  • When you receive your action number for a daily limit of $10,000 or more, call the ANZ Internet Banking team on 13 33 50 (International callers: +61 3 9638 8833) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • We will validate your action number over the phone and the limit will be available once you log off ANZ Internet Banking and log on again.
  • ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers please call us on 1800 269 242 between 8.00am to 8.00pm (AEST), Monday to Friday. We will validate your action number and enable your new daily limit
Important notes
  • Please remember that your action number will expire within 28 days of your application so you must use it within this period.
  • If you submit a second daily limit change request while a previous one is still being processed it will make your first one redundant so your initial action number will not work.

Why do I need an action number?

An action number is required to activate any Pay Anyone limit higher than $1,000.

  • It acts as a security measure that helps us identify you.
What do I do with this action number?

If the action number is for $5,000, you can activate it online via the "Change Pay Anyone Access" link under "Internet Banking Settings" section of the "Update Details" menu.

  • If the action number is for more than $5,000, please contact ANZ Internet Banking team on 13 33 50 (International callers: +61 3 9683 8833) 24 hours a day, seven days a week and quote the action number to activate your limit.
  • If you are an ANZ Internet Banking for Business customer please call ANZ Internet Banking for Business team on 1800 269 242 between 8.00am to 8.00pm (AEST), Monday to Friday to activate your limit.
  • You will have access to the increased limit the next time you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.
How long does it take to change a daily limit?

The time taken to change the daily limit depends on the type of limit you have requested.

  • If you are applying for a $1,000 it will be processed and activated immediately.
  • If you are decreasing or removing your Pay Anyone limit it will also be processed immediately.
  • If you are increasing your limit, you will receive a confirmation letter in the post within five bank business days after you have lodged your application.
  • The confirmation letter will include an action number and instructions on how to reactivate Pay Anyone with your revised limit.
  • Your action number must be activated within 28 days of your application.
What limits are available to me?

There are different limits available to you depending on the type of accounts you have. You need to request a limit and activate it before you start making payments. Only the limits available to you will be displayed.

  • Customers with personal accounts may request a daily Pay Anyone limit of $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000. If you request a $1,000 limit, it will be activated immediately and you can start making payments on the same day.
  • Customers with business accounts may request a daily Pay Anyone limit of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or $25,000.
  • ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers may request a daily Pay Anyone limit of up to $500,000.
How can I request a higher limit?

To increase the limit you will need to reapply for a higher  daily Pay Anyone limit via the "Change Pay Anyone Access" link under the "Internet Banking Settings" in the "Update details" menu.

  • Once your application has been processed, you will receive a confirmation letter in the post with an action number and instructions on how to activate your Pay Anyone daily limit.
  • Your action number must be activated within 28 days of your application.
It says I have an outstanding application - what does this mean?

This means that you have already requested a Pay Anyone limit within the last 28 days.

  • A confirmation letter with the action number is on its way to you in the post. You may wish to wait for the confirmation letter.
  • If you decide to apply for the limit again, you may do so. 
  • In this case your previous application will be cancelled, and a new confirmation letter with the new action number will be issued.
  • Your old action number will no longer be valid.
