Modify a direct loan payment

Direct loan payments are an easy way to set up recurring payments to your linked ANZ loan accounts. You can set up a prime direct loan payment, which acts as the primary loan payment method.

  • When modifying prime direct loan payments you can only increase the payment amount.
  • You cannot reduce the payment amount or edit the frequency of payments.

To modify a direct loan payment:

  • Go to the "View Accounts" page.
  • This is the first page you see when you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.
  • If you cannot locate it, select "View Accounts" from the "Accounts" menu.
  • Select your loan account by clicking on the account name.
  • Click the "Create or manage direct loan payments" link.

Your direct loan payments list will display.

  • Select the relevant payment, using the radio buttons under the "Select" column.
  • Click "Modify payment" and follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Enter the loan payment details
  • Prime payment: if the payment you are modifying is not already set as the prime payment, you will have the option of making it the prime payment. If the payment already is the prime payment method you will not be able to edit this field.
  • From: select the account you are transferring funds from using the drop down list.
  • To: the account in this field is the loan account you have selected.
  • Amount: enter the amount you wish to pay. The amount cannot be less than $5.00. If this amount is your prime payment, you cannot pay below the minimum repayment amount.
Step 2 - Enter the transfer details
  • Frequency: select the frequency of the payment, using the drop down list. This will only contain payment frequencies that are valid for the selected loan type. If this is a prime payment you cannot edit the frequency.
  • Start date: the date you would like the payment arrangement to begin.
  • Finish date: the date you would like the payment arrangement to end.
    • Select either "Until further notice" or "End date".
    • If you choose this option the direct payments will continue indefinitely unless you change or remove it.

Please note that you are the only person who can change or remove a recurring payment that you have created. If you have chosen this direct loan repayment option as your prime payment method, the end date will automatically default to until further notice. If your loan is currently in an interest only, progress draw down, extension or deferral period, your additional payment will automatically stop at the end of that period.

  • Click "Submit" to proceed with the loan payment.
Step 3 - Read and accept the customer authorisation

Read and accept the conditions for loan repayments on the "Direct loan payment - Customer authorisation" page.

  • Click "I Accept" on the right.

If you do not want to proceed with this payment instruction, click on the "Cancel" button on the bottom left and repeat steps 1-3.

Step 4 - View your lodgement receipt

Once you accept the customer authorisation the "Direct loan payment - lodgement receipt" page will display, showing the loan payment details and the transfer instructions.

To print this page, click on the "Print" icon in the top right corner.

  • A print-friendly version of the page will display. Click on "Print" at the top of the page to print the page.
  • If there is no print icon in the top right corner please use your own browser's print function (Control + P).
What happens next?
  • Depending on the loan payment requests and changes required in the loan contract, the direct loan payment may be set up straight away or sent to the Loan/Mortgage Team to process your request.
  • Your direct loan payment request may then take up to two bank business days to be processed.

Why is there a "Yes" or "No" under the prime payment column?

The "Yes" or "No" indicates whether the payment is a prime payment or not.

  • If the field displays "Yes" this means that you have chosen this payment method as your only directly credited method of payment for this loan. Prime payments are managed by ANZ so they will be automatically increased if your minimum amount is increased (e.g. due to an increase in interest rates).
  • If this field displays "No", then the payment is not a prime payment and you will need to make other payment arrangements to meet your minimum repayment requirements.
Can I modify the amount of my prime payment for my loan?

You can only increase the repayment amount of your prime payment.

  • Your payments must be equal or more than the minimum repayment amount.
Can I change the frequency of my prime payment?

If your prime payment has already been set up, you can only increase the payment amount.

  • The payment frequency cannot be modified through ANZ Internet Banking.
How can I change the payment frequency of my direct loan payment?

You can request a change to the payment frequency of your direct loan payment by contacting the ANZ Mortgage team on 13 25 99 between 8.00am and 9.30pm (AEST), Monday to Friday for mortgages or the ANZ Personal Loans team on 1800 801 485 between 8.00am and 8.00pm (AEST), Monday to Friday for personal loans.

How do I find out if I am eligible for a repayment holiday on my home loan account?

The ANZ Repayment Holiday enables you to take a break from your loan repayments by putting them on hold for three months.

  • This allows you to free up funds to use as you wish - to take a holiday or purchase a large item.
  • Interest on your loan continues to accrue during the repayment holiday.
  • At the end of the repayment holiday, the repayment amount is increased to ensure that you repay the loan in full within the agreed term.
  • You can also elect to repay the repayment holiday in a lump sum at the end of the repayment holiday period.
  • To find out if your loan is eligible for a repayment holiday, call 1800 100 641 between 8.00am and 11.00pm (AEST), seven days a week.
Can I set up direct loan payments from a non-ANZ account on ANZ Internet Banking?

No. If you want to set up direct loan payments for your ANZ Loan account via ANZ Internet Banking, it has to be done from a linked ANZ account.
