Eftpos terminal selection

"ANZ terminal software will be progressively upgraded from Oct 2014 – September 2015 to read cards with an eftpos enabled chip".

ANZ has delivered updates to Visa Debit cards and Merchant terminals as part of an industry wide initiative with all Australian banks. As an industry body, eftpos requires the development of new payment methods and technologies for processing debit transactions.

You may not see any immediate change as the updates will be progressively rolled out during a transition period. ANZ Visa Debit cards will be updated over the next 3 years and most Australian banks will have a similar roll out period.

Your Merchant Terminal software will be upgraded sometime between now and September 2015.  Post the upgrade, when a new eftpos enabled Visa Debit card is read by the upgraded terminal, it will present a new account selection screen. The screen will change from "CHQ, SAV, CR" to "Visa Debit, eftpos SAV, eftpos CHQ".

As ANZ and other Financial Institutions are gradually updating both their Merchant terminal software and Visa Debit cards over the coming years, customers may see a variety of new and old account selection options for some time into the future.
