Career

Shane was appointed Chief Financial Officer (Acting) in February 2021.

Joining ANZ in 2003, Shane has held a range of senior finance roles including Deputy CFO Finance, CFO Institutional, CFO Personal Division and CFO Consumer Finance.

Shane has over 30 years’ experience in the finance sector and has held senior roles at Price Waterhouse and Zurich Financial Services.

Prior to the CFO Acting appointment, Shane was Group General Manager Internal Audit, responsible for providing the Group Audit Committee with independent, timely assurance over the effectiveness of governance, management and control over current and emerging risks.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a postgraduate diploma in professional accounting from University College Dublin, is a fellow of each of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Shane was Deputy Chancellor of Monash University through to 2018 and chaired the University’s Resources & Finance Committee. He is also a Member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
