ANZ Institutional is number one for customers again, and has been recognised as the best bank for providing support through the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the sixth year in a row, ANZ Institutional has been ranked the top bank for outright and lead-bank penetration in Australia, as well as overall relationship strength, according to the annual Peter Lee Associates Large Corporate and Institutional Relationship Banking Survey.
ANZ has also been ranked number one for pandemic-related support, with 80 per cent of respondents to this year’s Peter Lee survey describing ANZ’s support as “excellent” or “above average”.
Almost three quarters of respondents to the survey of almost 600 institutional businesses said they have a relationship with ANZ. The bank maintained the top result for lead-bank penetration (39 per cent), and was ranked the top provider in 10 of 13 product groups.
ANZ Managing Director, Institutional Australia & PNG, Tammy Medard said the result highlights the effort the bank has put into fostering trusted relationships with customers, and standing by them in challenging times.
“The team at ANZ is working hard throughout the pandemic to ensure our customer’s experience with the bank is seamless and supportive,” she said. “Our approach means customers can focus on their own respective business challenges. It’s very rewarding and validating to be recognised by our customers in this way.”
Number one, again (again)
The recognition didn’t stop there, with Peter Lee naming ANZ the number-one relationship bank for the eighth-straight year, after the bank maintained its top ranking in the Relationship Strength Index.
ANZ led the market in the areas of sustainable finance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
“The results are a credit to our talented team who work hard to understand our customers’ needs and deliver outstanding banking expertise, including in the increasingly important area of ESG,” Medard said.
The Peter Lee survey is a leading indicator of performance across wholesale banking in Australia.
According to Peter Lee, 590 Australian-based large corporate institutions were surveyed in 2021.
