Saving Tips - #4 Minimise your fees top

Conducting your day-to-day banking doesn’t need to cost a lot. By selecting the right account, monitoring your transactions and using electronic banking, you can reduce the amount you pay in fees. Here are a few quick tips.

Reduce the number of accounts you have
If you have a number of accounts, you may be incurring fees on each account. You may want to consider consolidating your accounts.

Use 'fee-free' services where possible
It is worthwhile checking out what fees you incur with each transaction and how many 'fee-free' transactions you receive each month. Transactions conducted via ANZ Internet Banking generally don't incur additional fees. View the ANZ Fees and Charges brochure.

Investigate fee exemptions or packages
It is in your best interest to ask about fee exemptions or packages for which you might be eligible, such as the Students Benefits package or the Seniors Privilege package. To check if you are eligible for either of these options or other ANZ packages, please visit any ANZ branch.

Use ANZ branded ATMs
Use ANZ branded ATMs to withdraw cash from your ANZ accounts to avoid fees charged for using other bank ATMs. ANZ ATM balance enquiries on your ANZ accounts are free.

Keep your bank statements
The Australian Taxation Office requires you to retain your personal bank statements for seven years for tax purposes. Regularly reviewing your statements allows you to monitor your spending habits and ensures there are no errors or unauthorised transactions.

Always check your account balance
Always check your account balance before you withdraw money or if a regular payment is due from your account. This means that you don't overdraw your account and incur any unnecessary fees.
