Eligibility Checklist - New South Wales

To find out if you qualify for the First Home Owner Grant, complete the following checklist, provided by the Office of State Revenue New South Wales.

Compulsory fields are marked with an asterisk (Compulsory).



Applicant Eligibility Criteria

    
Note: All persons who have an interest in the home or will have an interest upon completion, are considered applicants.



Question 1

Will this be the first time each applicant and/or their spouse will receive a grant under a FIRST HOME OWNER GRANT ACT 2000 in any State or Territory of Australia?   Yes No Field required



Question 2

Is each applicant and their spouse a person who has never owned a residential property, either jointly, separately or with some other person BEFORE 1 July 2000, in any State or Territory of Australia?

NOTE: Applicants are not eligible for a grant if they or their spouse have held a relevant interest in residential property prior to 1 July 2000, even if they have never occupied the property.		   Yes No Field required



Question 3

Is each applicant and their spouse a person who has never occupied a residential property for a continuous period of at least six months in which they acquired a relevant interest on or after 1 July 2000, in any State or Territory of Australia?

NOTE: Applicants are not eligible for a grant if they or their spouse have held a relevant interest in residential property prior to 1 July 2000, even if they have never occupied the property.		   Yes No Field required



Question 4

Is each applicant(s) a natural person (ie. not a company)?   Yes No Field required



Question 5

Is at least ONE applicant(s) a permanent resident or Australian citizen?   Yes No Field required



Question 6

Will at least one applicant be occupying the home as their principle place of residence for a continuous period of at least six months commencing within 12 months of completion of the construction?   Yes No Field required



Question 7 - Transaction Eligibility Criteria

Have the applicant(s):
a) entered into a contract for the purchase of a home on or after 1 July 2000?
OR
b) signed a building contract to have a home built on their vacant land on or after 1 July 2000?
OR
c) in cases of an owner-builder, commenced laying of foundations of a home on their vacant land on or after 1 July 2000?		   Yes No Field required



Supporting Documentation

All applicants and their spouses must provide a certified copy of their birth certificate, if born in Australia, or proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. If purchasing an established home, you will need to provide a signed Contract of Sale (signed and dated by the vendor).

All documents must be certified copies.

How to correctly certify documents

A certified copy is a true copy of an original document that has been sighted and certified by an authorised person and notes as follows:

'I certify that I have sighted the original document and this is a true copy of it.'

This certification must be on each document (not required on each page) and have the:

  • Certifier's name
  • Title (position held)
  • Registration number (where applicable) and be signed and dated
