• Since November 2000, more than 18,000 ANZ employees have attended ANZ’s Breakout cultural development program, designed to enhance personal awareness, emotional intelligence, effectiveness in the workplace and the ability to make values-based business decisions.
• We encourage our people to share in ANZ’s success. Depending on our performance, employees are offered $1,000 in shares annually from ANZ. Staff can also use pre-tax dollars to buy ANZ shares to grow their wealth.
• We provide an attractive range of employee benefits including discount personal computers and discount rates on consumer products such as mortgages, personal loans and credit cards.
• As part of our commitment to diversity we have a range of flexible work practices, and family-friendly initiatives including subsidised childcare places, lifestyle leave and telecommuting options.
• We also enable and support our people to extend their careers at ANZ beyond the traditional retirement age, if they choose. Our ‘Career Extension’ options enable older workers to continue working at ANZ while achieving the work life balance they desire.

Given all of the above, it is not surprising that ANZ is rapidly becoming an employer of choice for young people. 8,338 university students throughout Australia and New Zealand applied for 250 places in our 2005 graduate program.
