Important information about ANZ in American Samoa

On March 31, 2022, ANZ announced it would exit US community banking in American Samoa to strengthen its focus on its core Pacific markets.

This was a difficult decision for ANZ and we are committed to supporting our staff and customers through this transition.

What will happen to my accounts that weren’t closed by September 30, 2022?

All ANZ accounts will be closed within the first two weeks of October, 2022, and won’t be accessible.


Can I pick up my cashier’s checks (from account closure) from a branch?

No, all unclaimed deposit account funds will be issued via a cashier’s check and mailed to the account address we have on file.


Can I still update our mailing address?

No, change of address requests will not be accepted or actioned.


How can I obtain my last bank statements?

You will receive a final statement, once account closure has been completed.


How and where do I pay my loans?

You can complete your loan payments at ANZ Fagatogo Branch, either via the walk-up window or mail.


Can I make a balance enquiry over the phone?

No, this service is no longer available.


Am I able to claim belongings from Safe Deposit Boxes?

Any unclaimed safe deposit boxes will be drilled open with a bank and legal representative present. Email us at to make further arrangements.


When was my cashier's check mailed to me?

Your cashier’s check would have been mailed to you when your account was closed.


What was the amount of my cashier’s check?

The closing balance of your account(s) that were unclaimed on September 30, 2022. 


What will happen if my bank won’t accept my cashier’s check?

All U.S. banks accept ANZ cashier’s checks.


How do I file a claim for a lost or a stolen cashier’s check?

Email us at with the payee name that was on the lost or stolen cashier’s check and the amount.


Will I be able to obtain audit confirmation for my accounts after September 30, 2022?

No, please use your last bank statement (that confirms your account balance as of the date the account was closed) as you balance confirmation.


How can I dispute an electronic transaction in my account?
