Open an account

Opening an account with us is easy. Simply complete our account opening application form (PDF 440kB) and bring it to your local branch. You will be required to bring documentation to enable ANZ Vanuatu to confirm your identity. Please read below for full details.

Identification required to open an account

ANZ Bank (Vanuatu) Ltd requires that all customers identify themselves prior to the opening of a bank account. The 100 points ensures all customers provide multiple documents to meet the account opening criteria.

Please read this document carefully. You will be required to provide documents from both Group A and Group B and you will need to ensure the point value assigned to each document totals at least 100 points.

Vanuatu Resident

If you are a permanent resident of Vanuatu you will need to provide the following items for identification purposes. You may produce any items in Group A and any item(s) in Group B so that the total number of points is equal to (or greater than) 100 points.

Group A documents (at least one document required)

Overseas passport* with approved residency permit papers			80

Applicant is personally known to a member of the ANZ Bank staff in Vanuatu			80
Letter of introduction** and photo signed by a respected and recognised senior public servant			80

Group B documents (at least one document required)

Letter of introduction from a current ANZ Bank customer			20
VNPF certificate with VNPF number			20
Photo driver’s licence from overseas country (i.e. Australia, New Zealand, France – international driver’s licence not accepted)			20
Two bank cards from a recognised financial institution or current bank statements			20

* Diplomatic passports are not acceptable.

Vanuatu Non-Resident

If you are a non-resident of Vanuatu you will need to provide the following items for identification purposes. You may produce any items in Group A and any item(s) in Group B so that the total number of points is equal to (or greater than) 100 points.

Group A documents (at least one document required)

Two cards from major financial institutions (i.e. credit cards, Bankcard, AMEX, Visa, JCB) / Australian Medicare Card			10
Copies of bank statements issued within the last two months on active accounts with recognised major banks.			10
Copies of latest salary slip, income tax returns, letter of employment, etc			10

Please note that diplomatic passports are not acceptable.
