Friday, 18th July 2008, APIA: ANZ today announced it's sponsorship of the weekly ANZ Netball Shield matches during the Hyundai Netball Competition 2008. The ANZ Netball Shield is run over a ten week period in conjunction with the main competition. ANZ have been proud sponsors of this shield for over 20 years and look forward to continuing our relationship with the Samoa Netball Association. The Hyundai Netball Competition 2008 is presented in partnership with the Samoa Netball Association and will be televised every Sunday afternoon on TV3.
Managing Director of ANZ Samoa, Mr Peter Johnson said: "Netball is fast-growing in popularity, and lies very close to the hearts of many Samoans. As the leading Bank in Samoa, and with close links to our local community, ANZ is delighted to partner with the Samoa Netball Association for this exciting domestic competition.
President of the Samoa Netball Association, Mrs Noumea Simi said "Commercial support for these domestic, club-level tournaments is crucial to the ongoing success of the development of netball in Samoa.
"In sponsoring domestic tournaments such as these, ANZ will assist in providing the platforms that provide invaluable opportunities for young emerging players to experience more high level competition.
"We are delighted to again welcome ANZ to the Samoa Netball family and look forward to working with them through this exciting tournament" said Mrs Simi.
