Security

ANZ employs a range of security measures to assist in protecting your personal account information. These measures extend from data encryption to firewalls. The firewall, together with 128-bit SSL encryption technology, helps to provide some of the best security available to keep your password, account details and other sensitive information, including any messages sent via SecureMail protected.

To access ANZ Internet Banking, you need your Customer Registration Number and password. Your password protects the security of your information. Please see the ANZ Internet Banking Terms and Conditions for details concerning your obligations about keeping your password secure.

Here are a few helpful tips to assist you in choosing and using your password:

  • Change your password regularly, preferably every 30 days.
  • When choosing a password, select something that you will remember easily but which will not be obvious to others or that are based on easily accessible personal data (do not use family names, street names or birth months).
  • Keep your password confidential - do not write it down and do not reveal your password to anyone.
  • If changing your password, we recommend that you make it significantly different from passwords you have used previously.

Within the ANZ Internet Banking system, a default of 8 minutes has been set as the amount of time your banking session can remain unattended. After this time, the system automatically "logs off" and ends your session.

However, you can change the amount of time your banking session can remain unattended within the 'Update My Details' tab of ANZ Internet Banking. The minimum time is 5 minutes and the maximum is 20 minutes.

Remember, if you are not using your computer for a period of time, make sure you "log out" completely from the ANZ Internet Banking system so that sensitive banking information cannot be viewed by others.

To find out how to optimise your security visit our Software Settings guide to ensure your browser has the appropriate settings selected.

Further information about the security of your account transactions and enquiries is contained within the ANZ Internet Banking Terms and Conditions.
