ANZ in Japan

ANZ opened its first representative office in Tokyo in 1969, as the first ANZ’s footprint in Asia.  Following acquisition of a full banking license in 1984, the Tokyo office was upgraded to a branch.

ANZ Japan today offers a broad range of banking products and services to support the activities of our corporate and institutional customers, by connecting them with close to 30 markets across Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, America and the Middle East.

In 2018, ANZ received approval for a securities license in Japan from the Financial Services Agency (FSA). ANZ became the first Australian bank with the securities license in Japan, which allows it to sell Australian, New Zealand and Asian bonds, as well as structured notes, repurchase agreements (repos), and other securities products to Japanese investors. The license operates under the name of ANZ Securities (Japan), Ltd.

In the community

ANZ Japan is committed to giving back to the community in which it operates. ANZ Japan has been actively involved in corporate responsibilities, such as supporting the FIT (The Financial Industry in Tokyo) Charity Run since 2009 as one of the sponsors and also volunteering at a school for challenged children. We believe that banking is more than the provision of finance. Our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive.
