Register for Pay Anyone

"Pay Anyone" is an easy way to make a payment from your account to someone else’s account. You can pay to any Australian Financial Institution (bank, building society, credit union).

All you need to make a Pay Anyone payment is the BSB and Account number or PayID of the intended recipient. A PayID may be a phone number, email address, Australian Business Number (ABN)/Australian Company Number (ACN) or organisation ID (Org ID).

Please note to make a payment to a PayID you’ll need to have an eligible ANZ bank account.

Please note you cannot use Pay Anyone to transfer to a credit card account (including your own ANZ Credit Card) or to an international account.

In order to use Pay Anyone you must first register for the service.

To activate your Pay Anyone access you’ll need to be logged in to ANZ Internet Banking.

Step 1 - Navigate to "Pay Anyone"
  • Go to the "Payments" menu.
  • Select "Pay Anyone access" and follow the steps below.
Step 2 - Select your daily limit and select "Submit"
  • The daily limit is the maximum payment amount per day for Pay Anyone, international services, the purchase of bank cheques and donations to charity through ANZ Internet Banking.
  • As an ANZ personal customer your daily limit can range from $1,000 to $10,000 (and up to $25,000 if you’re registered for ANZ Shield).
  • As an ANZ business customer using ANZ Internet Banking your daily limit can range from $5,000 to $25,000 (and up to $50,000 if you’re registered for ANZ Shield)
  • As an ANZ business customer using ANZ Internet Banking for Business you can apply for a daily limit of up to $1,000,000.
  • Only the limits available to you will be displayed.

Please note: The $1,000,000 limit requires higher authentication by ANZ and you may be contacted for further information to verify payment details.

If this information cannot be verified, payments may be cancelled.

Step 3 - Activate Pay Anyone

We take the security of your personal account and information seriously and have a range of security measures to help verify your identity when activating your Pay Anyone access.

The next step may differ depending on the limit chosen and your security setting.

Enter your ANZ Shield Code

If you are registered for ANZ Shield, our free security app, you may be prompted to enter your ANZ Shield Code.

  • When prompted, open the ANZ Shield app on your phone and generate a Shield Code.
  • Enter your Shield Code into ANZ Internet Banking.
  • You’ll be able to make Pay Anyone payments with your selected daily limit.
Answer your challenge questions

Alternatively, if you’re presented with a challenge question:

  • Enter the answer to your challenge question/s and select "Continue" to proceed.
  • If your answers to your challenge question/s do not match your saved responses, you may not be able to activate your Pay Anyone access.
  • If you successfully answer your challenge question/s you’ll be able to make Pay Anyone payments with your selected daily limit.

Do I need to register for Pay Anyone?
Yes. You need to register for Pay Anyone facility online and need to activate the daily Pay Anyone limit before you can use Pay Anyone.
What does Pay Anyone cost?

There is no fee/charge for using Pay Anyone. However, if you have used all of your monthly free withdrawals for your account, normal excess transaction fees and government charges may apply.

What daily limits are available to me and can I apply for others?

There are different limits available to you depending on the type of accounts you have. You need to firstly request for the daily limit and activate it before you can start making payments.

 

If you're not registered for ANZ Shield:

  • Customers with personal accounts may request for $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000. The request for $1,000 will be activated immediately and you can start making payment on the same day
  • Customers with business accounts may request for $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or $25,000 as their daily Pay Anyone limit
  • ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers may request for a daily Pay Anyone limit of up to $1,000,000.

If you're registered for ANZ Shield:

In addition to the daily limits listed above,

  • Customers with personal accounts can get instant access to higher daily Pay Anyone limits of $15,000 or $25,000; and
  • Customers with business accounts can get instant access to a higher daily Pay Anyone limit of $50,000.
What additional authentication is required for my $1,000,000 Pay Anyone Limit?

To support your ANZ Internet Banking for Business $1,000,000 Pay Anyone Limit, additional authentication is required for certain transactions.

Please note:

  • ANZ may contact you to verify the details of certain payments using this limit. It is important to ensure you confirm transaction details with us from your source of truth (i.e. an invoice) to prevent sophisticated fraud threats. 
  • ANZ recommends that all third party transactions of $500,000 and above are authorised prior to 4.00pm Melbourne time to ensure we can contact you to verify payment details when required. If we are unable to contact you to verify transaction information, payments may be cancelled.  
What does my daily limit apply to?

The daily limit applies only to Pay Anyone, purchase of bank cheques online, donations to charity and international transfers via ANZ Internet Banking.

How long does it take before I can use Pay Anyone?

It will be available immediately.

If I register for Pay Anyone, can I transfer funds overseas?

No. Pay Anyone allows you to transfer funds to any Australian financial institution (bank, building society, credit union). You need to register for international services along with Pay Anyone to be able to transfer fund overseas.

How can I increase my Pay Anyone limit?
Important notes
  • When transferring to a BSB and Account number, it is your responsibility to ensure that the details provided by you are correct or your payment may be sent to the wrong account. ANZ does not check that the details provided by you are correct.
  • When transferring to a PayID, it is your responsibility to check that the PayID you’ve entered belongs to the person that you intend to pay.
  • You cannot delete or cancel an immediate payment or a payment to be processed today.
  • Future-dated payments require cleared funds in your account at 11.59pm Melbourne time on the day before the scheduled payment date or your payment will be unsuccessful.
  • You cannot amend a recurring payment. You must delete the existing recurring payment series by selecting the recurring payment series from the Manage future payments / transfers function and then set up a new recurring payment series.
  • Payments from your ANZ Credit Card are treated as a cash advance, which may involve a fee (interest is applicable).
