Make a Pay Anyone payment

Making a Pay Anyone payment is easy.

  • Go to the "Pay and transfer" menu.
  • Select "Pay Anyone" and follow the steps below.

If you are an ANZ Internet Banking for Business customer:

  • Go to the "Pay and transfer" menu.
  • Select "Pay Anyone".
  • Click the "Create a new single Pay Anyone transfer" radio button.
  • Click "Continue" and follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Select a "from" account and enter your name

From: choose the ANZ account you wish to transfer funds from, using the drop down list, which displays all of your ANZ accounts that you have linked to ANZ Internet Banking.

Your/Business name: fill in either your own name or the name of your business if appropriate.

  • This will appear on the payee's statement so make sure the text makes your identity clear to the payee. This must only contain letters, hyphens and spaces (no special characters eg. _/@#%^*)
Step 2 - Enter the payee account details

Choose between two options.

Option 1 - Select an existing payee from the "To" drop down list
  • Use this option if you've previously saved the payee's information and the details have not changed.
  • You don't need to re-save their details if they are already in your payee list.
  • Ensure the "Add this payee to my payee list" box is left unchecked.
  • Move to step 3.

Option 2 - Enter details for a new payee
  • If you are transferring money to a new payee enter their account details including BSB number (six digit number), account number and account name.

If you plan to save this payee in your payee list enter a description of the payee. This will help you identify the payee for future transfers.

  • Save the payee: check the box to add the recipient to your "My Pay Anyone Payees" list.
Step 3 - Enter the payment details

Amount: enter the amount you wish to transfer, using a decimal point, if applicable.

Message: enter a message to appear on the payee's statement.

  • Make sure it clearly represents your payment.
  • For example if you are paying a bill you may need to include an invoice number.
  • Or perhaps your own name or the name of your business is enough.
Step 4 - Choose between a one off and a recurring transfer

Choose the option that best suits your transfer.

Option 1 - Make a one off transfer
  • Select the "One off transfer" radio button.
  • Specify a future date if necessary.
  • Otherwise leave the default at today's date.
  • The date should be in the format DD/MM/YYYY (eg 25/02/2010)
  • Click "Continue".
Option 2 - Create a recurring transfer
  • Select the "Recurring transfer" radio button, if you want to pay a specific amount at regular intervals, such as every week or month for a set period of time.
  • Click "Continue" – this will open a new screen where you can enter the details of your recurring payment.
  • Move to step 5 for help on entering the recurring transfer details.
Step 5 - Enter the recurring payment details (if applicable)

At the top of the screen you'll see a summary of your transfer details. Check all the details are correct and then move to the "Transfer details" section.

Frequency: choose an option from the drop down list to determine how often you would like the transfer to occur.

Option 2 - Enter a date
  • Click on the calendar icon to choose a date for the last transfer to take place as per the "Start on" section.
  • Ensure you have selected the radio button for the option.
Option 3 - Enter the number of transfers to be made
  • Choose this option if you know how many transfers you'd like to make.
  • You must enter a number in the field and ensure you have selected the radio button.

When you are happy with your recurring transfer details click "Continue"

Step 6 - Review your information

Review all your information to ensure it is correct. If information is incorrect it may result in an unsuccessful transfer or the wrong payee receiving funds.

  • If you notice mistakes click "Back" and re-enter the correct details following steps 1-6.
Step 7 - Confirm your transfer

When you are happy with the information entered click "Confirm". This will complete the transfer and a confirmation message will display.

ANZ Internet Banking for Business Operators can click on the "Request authorisation" button to submit the Pay Anyone transaction to the relevant Authoriser for approval.

Step 8 - View your lodgement receipt
  • Your lodgement receipt is displayed to confirm that your transaction has been submitted successfully.
  • This does not mean the transaction will be processed successfully as that is dependent on the details you have entered being accurate, and on funds being available for the transaction to occur on the set date(s).
  • Please make a note of the receipt number and lodgement number for your own records.
