Transfer between my accounts

Transferring funds between your accounts is easy.

ANZ Internet Banking customers:

  • Go to the "Pay and transfer" menu.
  • Select "Transfer between my accounts" and follow the steps below.

ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers:

  • Go to the "Pay and transfer" menu.
  • Select "Transfer between my accounts"
  • Click on the "Create a new single funds transfer" radio button.
  • Click "Continue" and follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Select the accounts you would like transfer from and to
  • From: select the account to transfer from, using the drop down list.
  • To: select the account to transfer to, using the drop down list.

Only valid accounts for this transaction type will display.

Step 2 - Enter the payment details
  • Amount: enter the amount you wish to transfer.
Step 3 - Choose between a one off and a recurring transfer

Choose one of the following options:

Option 1 - Make a one off transfer
  • Select the "One off transfer" radio button.
  • Specify a future date if necessary.
  • Otherwise leave the default at today's date.
  • The date should be in the format DD/MM/YYYY (e.g. 25/02/2010)
  • Click "Continue".
  • Skip to step 5.
Option 2 - Create a recurring transfer
  • Select the "Recurring transfer" radio button, if you want to pay a specific amount at regular intervals, such as every week or month for a set period of time.
  • Click "Continue" – this will open a new screen where you can enter the details of your recurring payment.
  • Move to step 4 for help on entering the recurring transfer details.
Step 4 - Enter the recurring transfer details (if applicable)

At the top of the screen you'll see a summary of your transfer details. Check all details are correct and then move to the "Transfer details" section.

Frequency: choose an option from the drop down list to determine how often you would like the transfer to occur.

Start on: click the calendar icon and select the date on which you would like the first transfer to be made.

  • Use the arrows on top of the calendar to navigate to a different month or year.
  • Alternatively you can type the date in the box in the format DD/MM/YYYY, e.g. 27/11/2009.

Finish on: Use the radio buttons to select the option that suits your transfer.

Option 1 - Until further notice
  • If you choose this option the recurring transfers will continue indefinitely unless you change or remove them.
  • Please note that you are the only person who can change or remove a recurring transfer that you have created.
Option 2 - Enter a date
  • Click on the calendar icon to choose a date for the last transfer to take place as per the "Start on" section.
  • Ensure you have selected the radio button for the option.
Option 3 - Enter the number of transfers to be made
  • Choose this option if you know how many transfers you'd like to make.
  • You must enter a number in the field and ensure you have selected the radio button.

When you are happy with your recurring transfer details click "Continue"

Step 5 - Review your information

Review all your information to ensure it is correct.

  • If you notice mistakes click "Back" and re-enter the correct details following steps 1-5.
Step 6 - Confirm your transfer

When you are happy with the information entered click "Confirm". This will complete the transfer and a confirmation message will display.

ANZ Internet Banking for Business Operators can click on the "Request authorisation" button to submit the transfer to the relevant Authoriser for approval.

Step 7 - View your lodgement receipt
  • Your lodgement receipt is displayed to confirm that your transaction has been submitted successfully.
  • This does not mean the transaction will be processed successfully as that is dependent on the details you have entered being accurate, and on funds being available for the transaction to occur on the set date(s).
  • Please make a note of the receipt number and lodgement number for your own records.
Important notes

Withdrawals from an ANZ E*TRADE account are not available via ANZ Internet Banking. To make a withdrawal from your ANZ E*TRADE account:

Stopping or deleting payments

You cannot delete immediate payments. You can stop future or recurring payments if necessary. If you wish to delete a future dated payment, the request must be lodged with ANZ Internet Banking prior to 12.00am (midnight AEST) on the day prior to the payment date.

Please note that you cannot edit a future dated or recurring payment. You must delete and then re-submit a new payment.

Why aren't all my accounts showing up in the drop down list?

Only valid linked accounts with appropriate access levels will show in the drop down list when you are transferring between your accounts.

  • The eligible accounts with full access will show up in the "From" drop down list
  • The valid accounts to receive the funds will show in the "To" drop down list.

For example, you cannot transfer funds from most home loans; however you can transfer funds to most home loans. Therefore, some accounts may not appear in the "From" list, but will appear in the "To" list.

Do I need to link an account before I can use it to transact online?

Yes. The account needs to be linked to your ANZ Internet Banking before you can use it to transact online. You can link an account to your ANZ Internet Banking in one of three ways:

  • Use the link my accounts function on ANZ Internet Banking - this will take 24-48 hours
  • Contact the ANZ Internet Banking Helpdesk on 13 33 50 (International callers: +61 3 9683 8833) 24 hours a day, seven days a week - this will be immediate
  • Visit your nearest ANZ branch - this will be immediate.

What's the maximum I can transfer between my accounts?

There is no maximum or minimum limit when transferring funds between your linked accounts. You can transfer any available funds between accounts.

Can I make multiple transfers between my accounts?

Yes. You can make multiple transfers between your accounts through the "Scheduled Multiple Future Payments/Transfers" under "Pay and Transfer".

You can also schedule a recurring payment via the "Transfer between My Accounts" under "Pay and Transfer" menu.

How long does it take for the transfer to go through?

The funds are available immediately after processing.

  • Immediate transfers made via ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business will be processed to your account on the same day, provided they are made before 10pm Melbourne time Monday to Friday (excluding national public holidays) for funds transfers.
  • Any transaction made after this time may be processed on the following business day or Banking Business Day. A Banking Business Day is a day on which banks in Melbourne or Sydney are able to effect settlement through the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Can I future date a transfer between my accounts?

Yes. You can do this by selecting a future date for your transfer.

Can I use transfer between my accounts to pay my ANZ Credit Card?

"Transfer between my accounts" can be used to make a one-off payment to your linked ANZ Credit Card or set up a recurring payment of the same amount to your linked ANZ Credit Card. You may also use the "Pay ANZ Credit Card" to arrange regular payments to your ANZ Credit Card on the due date or at regular intervals from one of your linked accounts.

Can I use transfer between my accounts to make direct loan payments?

No. "Transfer between my Accounts" can only be used to make a one-off payment to your loan. To organise direct loan payments follow the steps below:

  • Go to the "Account overview" page for your loan account
  • Click on the "Create or Manage Direct Loan Repayments" link

The "Direct Loan Payments" page gives details of any direct loan payments that you have set up on the selected loan. It allows you to add a new recurring payment, modify, or delete an existing direct loan payment.

Why can't I transfer from my linked E*TRADE account?

As part of the terms and conditions of an E*TRADE account, you are unable to transfer funds from this account using ANZ Internet Banking.  However, you may transfer funds from another linked ANZ account into your ANZ E*TRADE Account via ANZ Internet Banking.

  • To make a withdrawal from your ANZ E*TRADE account please log on to the ANZ E*TRADE website, then select the "Transfer Money" option in the "Account services" menu.
Where can I see payments or transfers I've made in the past?

The "Past Payments/ Transfers" section under the "Pay and Transfer" menu allows you to view your past ANZ Internet Banking payments and transfers. You may search transactions by:

  • the account from which the payment or transfer was made (including closed accounts or accounts that have been de-linked from your CRN)
  • date range
  • transfer or payment type.

You can view details of your payments and transfers for the last 120 days using ANZ Internet Banking. For transactions prior to the last 120 days please refer to your paper statement or your online statements. You may also contact the ANZ Customer Service team on 13 13 14 (International callers: +61 3 9683 9999) 24 hours a day, seven days a week to order a copy of your statement.

Can I schedule future dated payments?

Yes. You can schedule future dated transfer or bill payments via the "Schedule Multiple Future Payments/Transfers" section under the "Pay and Transfer" menu.

This page allows you to lodge up to ten payments which could be combination of fund transfers, Pay Anyone payments and bill payments.

The "Future Payments/Transfer" section under the "Pay and Transfer" menu provides you with a summary of the transfers or bill payments you have scheduled via ANZ Internet Banking to be processed on a future date.

I need to delete a future dated transaction - how can I do this?

You can delete future payments, transfers or bill payments via the "Future Payments/Transfer" page by clicking on the "Immediately Delete Payment/Transfer" link.

  • This will immediately delete the selected future dated payment
  • The payment will remain on this page with a status of "deleted" until the due date
  • If you wish to delete a transfer, the request must be lodged with ANZ Internet Banking prior to 12.00am (midnight AEST) on the day prior to payment.

  • When you request future-dated or recurring payments/transfers please remember that cleared funds must be available in your account at 12.00am (midnight AEST) on the day before the scheduled payment.
  • If your enquiry relates to a transfer with a "Status Unknown" message, please call the ANZ Internet Banking Helpdesk on 13 33 50 (International callers dial +61 3 9683 8833), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Immediate transfers made via ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business will be processed to your account on the same day, provided they are made before 10pm Melbourne time Monday to Friday (excluding national public holidays) for funds transfers.
  • Any transaction made after this time may be processed on the following business day or Banking Business Day. A Banking Business Day is a day on which banks in Melbourne or Sydney are able to effect settlement through the Reserve Bank of Australia.
  • All future-dated transfers will be processed by us on the morning of the date requested unless the payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday in which case the transfer will be processed on the next bank business day.
  • Transfers from your ANZ Credit Card will be treated as a cash advance.
