Term deposits products

To request a new ANZ Term Deposit account:

  • Go to the "Apply for" menu.
  • Select "Term deposits".
  • Click on the "Apply for a Term Deposit online" link and you are navigated to "Apply for a Term Deposit" page.
Step 1 - Fill in the term deposit details

Complete the required details about the new term deposit in this section.

  • Deposit amount: enter the amount you want to invest in your new term deposit. The minimum deposit amount is $5,000.
  • Funding account: select an account to fund your term deposit, from the drop down list. The initial deposit amount will be deducted from this account when your term deposit is opened.
  • Term of investment: select the investment period for your term deposit from the drop down list. You can choose from 1-120 months.
  • Frequency of interest payments: select the frequency required from the drop down list. If your term is less than 12 months you can only select "At Maturity". For a term of 12 months or more you can choose between monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually or at maturity.
Step 2 - Enter the interest payment instructions

Choose what you want to do with the interest earned on your term deposit. You can choose between two options:

  • Reinvest interest: to put the interest back into the term deposit (only available for interest 'at maturity').
  • Transfer interest: to transfer the interest to a selected linked account.
Step 3 - Enter the principal payment instructions

Choose what you want to do with the principal amount when your ANZ Term Deposit matures. You can choose between two options:

  • Reinvest principal amount into term deposit: to reinvest the principal amount into your term deposit at maturity.
  • Transfer principal amount to a selected account: to transfer the principal amount to a selected linked account at maturity.
Step 4 - Complete the tax agreement

Under a tax agreement between the Australia and the United States Governments, ANZ is required to ask you to confirm whether you are a US resident for tax purposes or a US citizen when you open an account. 

This is a mandatory selection. 

Select Yes if you are:

  •  US resident for tax purposes, or
  •  US citizen

Select No if this is not applicable to you.

Step 5 - Enter your contact details

Provide your current contact details in case we need to contact you regarding your request.

  • Click on the "Continue" button to proceed.
Step 6 - Review your request

Review your request on the "Apply for a term deposit - review request" page to ensure all information is correct.

  • If you need to change any details, click "Back" on the bottom left and re-enter any details by following steps 1-5.
Step 7 - Confirm your request

When you are happy with the details provided, click the checkbox to acknowledge and accept the customer authorisation conditions.

  • Click "Confirm" on the bottom right to confirm your request.
Step 8 - SecureMail sent

The "Apply for a term deposit - SecureMail sent" page will display confirming that a SecureMail has been sent on your behalf requesting term deposit opening as per your instructions.

What happens next?
  • The ANZ Term Deposit team will process your request and respond to your enquiry accordingly.
Important notes
  • The new ANZ Term Deposit will be set up in the name of the account from which the term deposit is being funded.
  • All requests submitted by 5:00pm (AEST) on a bank business day will be treated as having an effective date of the same day.
  • Requests submitted after that time or on a bank holiday will be treated as having an effective date of the next bank business day.
  • The term deposit will commence on the effective date and the interest rate applicable on the effective date will apply to your deposit.
  • The new term deposit will be linked to your CRN once it is opened.
  • A set of terms and conditions will be sent to you once your deposit is opened.
  • If you wish to cancel this request and close your term deposit, you can do so once the deposit is opened by selecting the "Terminate your term deposit" link.
  • Requests received within a week of the term deposit being opened will be processed, at the discretion of ANZ, without any charges.
  • If your investment is greater than $100,000 please call our ANZ Sales team on 13 33 33 (International callers: +61 3 9683 9999 and request to be to be transferred to the ANZ Sales team) from Monday to Friday 8.00am to 8.00pm (AEST). We can let you know what rates you may be eligible for.

What can I do on the "Apply for" page for term deposits?

On this page you can:

  • Apply for an ANZ Term Deposit online: allows you to send a request to open a new ANZ Term Deposit account based on the terms you specify.
  • View today's ANZ Term Deposit interest rates: displays the ANZ Term Deposit interest rates as at today's date. This is an external page and while you are viewing this page your ANZ Internet Banking timeout limit will still apply.
  • View ANZ Term Deposit Product Disclosure Statement: displays the Product Disclosure Statement associated with ANZ Term Deposit accounts. This is an external page and while viewing it your ANZ Internet Banking timeout limit will still apply.
  • Make an ANZ Term Deposit enquiry: allows you to forward an ANZ Term Deposit related enquiry via a SecureMail to our ANZ Customer Service Consultants.
  • Link an existing ANZ Term Deposit account: allows you to request an existing ANZ Term Deposit to be linked to your ANZ Internet Banking via a SecureMail. You must allow at least two bank business days for your request to be processed.
Can I apply online for an ANZ Term Deposit for my business?

No. You cannot apply to open an ANZ Term Deposit for a business online.

  • You can visit any ANZ branch or contact your ANZ Relationship Manager to apply for a business ANZ Term Deposit.
How can I make an ANZ Term Deposit enquiry?

If you have a query about a linked ANZ Term Deposit in your ANZ Internet Banking you can send us a SecureMail with your enquiry to process your request.

  • Make a Term Deposit enquiry: click on a link for SecureMail on the same page or go to the "SecureMail" menu and send the relevant SecureMail enquiry type.
  • Link an existing ANZ Term Deposit: Go to the "Update Details" menu and click on the "Link/Delink an account to ANZ Internet Banking" link to send your request to the relevant department.
How can I apply for other ANZ accounts online?

You can apply for other cheque/savings accounts online from the "Apply for" page.

  • Click on the "Apply online for an account" link
  • Select the account from the list and complete the online application form.
