Maintain my term deposit during grace period

When you request to reinvest your ANZ Term Deposit at maturity there is a five day grace period after the reinvestment. During this grace period you can make changes that will apply to the reinvestment of your term deposit.

  • You can choose to increase or decrease the investment amount as well as the instructions for payment at maturity.
  • The ongoing interest rate applied to your term deposit will be the current rate on the date your deposit was reinvested.

To maintain your ANZ Term Deposit during the grace period after reinvestment:

  • Go to the "View Accounts" landing page.
  • This is the first page you see when you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.
  • If you cannot locate it, go to the "Accounts" menu and select "View Accounts".
  • Select your term deposit by clicking on the account name.
  • Then click on the "Maintain term deposit" link at the top of the page.

You will be notified that your ANZ Term Deposit is currently in grace period and the following information will display:

  • Maintain term deposit: contains details of the recently reinvested term deposit with account number and principal amount.
  • Start date: for the currently reinvested term deposit.
Step 1 - Fill in the required information

Fill in the required information on the "Term deposit grace period maintenance instructions details" page as follows:

  • Reinvestment amount: the current balance will display. You can keep the amount as is, increase or decrease it.
  • Term of reinvestment: the current term of reinvestment will display. You can change the term, if you wish to.
  • Frequency of interest payment: the current frequency of interest payment will display. You can change it to one of the available frequency options provided.
  • Principal payment instruction at maturity: the current instruction will display. You can choose one of the following:
    • Reinvest term deposit
    • Transfer to my selected account.
  • Contact details: provide your current contact details in case we need to contact you regarding your current request.
  • Click "Continue" on the bottom right to proceed.
Step 2 - Enter the reinvestment amount details

Choose one of three options for the reinvestment amount.

Option 1 - Keep the reinvestment amount the same

If you have chosen not to change the term deposit reinvestment amount, go to step 3.

Option 2 - Increase balance of term deposit

If you've chosen to increase the reinvestment amount for your term deposit, the "Increase term deposit amount - payment" page will display with the following information:

  • Maintain account: contains details of existing term deposit with account number and current balance.
  • Additional funds: the additional amount required to reinvest in your current term deposit balance.
  • Transfer from: select an account to transfer funds from, using the drop down list.

Click "Continue" on the bottom right and click on "OK" when prompted to continue further. Go to step 3.

Option 3 - Decrease balance of term deposit

If you've chosen to decrease the reinvestment amount, the "Withdraw part of deposit - payment" page will display with the following information:

  • Maintain account: contains details of existing term deposit with account number and current balance.
  • Refund amount: the excess amount in your current term deposit balance.
  • Transfer to: select an account to transfer the excess funds into, using the drop down list.

Click "Continue" on the bottom right and click on "OK" when prompted to continue further. Go to step 3.

Step 3 - Review your request

Depending on the options you chose in step 2, you will be taken to one of the following pages to review your request:

  • Option 1 - Maintain your term deposit - review request
  • Option 2 - Increase term deposit amount - review request
  • Option 3 - Withdraw part of deposit - review request

Review your request on this page to ensure all information is correct. If you need to change any details, click "Back" and re-enter any details by repeating steps 1-2.

Step 4 - Confirm your request

When you are happy with the details provided, click the checkbox to acknowledge and accept the customer authorisation conditions.

  • Click "Confirm" on the bottom right to confirm your request.
Step 5 - SecureMail sent

Depending on the options you chose in step 2, you will be taken to one of the following confirmation pages confirming that a SecureMail has been sent to the ANZ Term Deposit team on your behalf requesting an amendment to the existing term deposit instructions:

  • Option 1 - Maintain your term deposit - Securemail sent
  • Option 2 - Increase term deposit amount - Securemail sent
  • Option 3 - Withdraw part of deposit - Securemail sent
What happens next?
  • The ANZ Term Deposit team will process your request and respond to your enquiry within two bank business days.

What happens once my ANZ Term Deposit matures?

Once your ANZ Term Deposit matures, you will have five bank business days as a grace period. During this grace period you can make changes that will apply to the reinvestment of your term deposit.

  • You can choose to increase or decrease the investment amount as well as the instructions for payment at maturity.
  • The ongoing interest rate applied to your term deposit will be the current rate on the date your deposit was reinvested.
What details can be modified during the grace period?

If you choose to re-invest your term deposit at maturity, the following details can be modified within the five bank business days after the deposit has been re-invested:

  • Amount of deposit
  • Investment term/period of deposit
  • Principal and interest payment instructions
  • Interest payment frequency.
Can I reinvest an amount less than $5,000?

No. The re-investment amount must be more than or equal to the minimum investment amount for a term deposit, which is $5,000.

Can I transfer funds between an existing ANZ Term Deposit and a non-ANZ account?

No. When using ANZ Internet Banking, funds must be transferred to/from an ANZ account linked to your ANZ Internet Banking.
