Change Statement Preferences

Online statements are Portable Document Format (PDF) file versions of your account statements, accessed within ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business.

Online statements are automatically available for most accounts. That means, as a default you may be receiving statements online AND in the mail.

If you're using ANZ Internet Banking you can decide how you would like to receive your account statements – "Online only" or "Paper and online". You can change your statement preference any time.

If you're using ANZ Internet Banking for Business you cannot switch off paper and will continue to receive statements online and in the mail.

If you switch off paper statements, this means that a person who previously received paper statements for an account:

  • will not receive paper statements for that account if they have authorised access to that account in ANZ Internet Banking; or
  • will continue to receive paper statements for that account if they do not have authorised access to that account in ANZ Internet Banking.

We suggest that before you remove any accounts from ANZ Internet Banking ensure you have reset your statement preferences to "Paper and online". This way you’ll continue receiving statements by mail.

What happens to my online statements if I close all of my accounts?

You will lose access to historical online statements if all accounts linked to ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business are closed. Before closing your accounts we suggest you:

  • Save electronic copies to your computer or print statements
  • Update your account preference settings to "Paper and online", which will ensure you receive any final statements in the mail

Note: There must be at least one active account linked to ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business to view online statements for eligible accounts.

Why am I receiving a paper statement after I opted for "Online only"?

Here are some situations when your statement preferences for an eligible account may be reset back to "Paper and online" from "Online only":

  • Where a credit card linked to your ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business is registered as lost or stolen
  • Where there is a change to the number of signatories on an eligible account
  • When an overdraft has been added or removed from an existing deposit account
  • For eligible accounts with multiple account holders, the statement delivery preference will change when one party has changed the statement delivery preference.

You may also receive a paper statement if there is a problem with your email address. Please double-check it is correct. You should also ensure your inbox is not full and that it's not rejecting emails from statement@anzcommunications.anz.com

If you are using ANZ Internet Banking for Business you will continue to receive eligible account statements online and in the mail.

What happens if I have nominated one person on my account to receive the statement?

If you have an account with multiple account holders, the nominated party will commence receiving online statements from the next statement issued after the nomination. They will also have the ability to update statement preferences.

You should report your lost or stolen credit card immediately by calling 1800 033 844.  Your historical account statements for transactions made using the lost/stolen card will still be available to view online via ANZ Internet Banking.

When your new credit card is issued ensure you link the new card to ANZ Internet Banking. Remember to update your statement preferences if you prefer to receive statements "Online only".

What happens to my online statement preference when my new replacement lost credit card is issued?

If we issue you with a replacement credit card because your original card has been lost/stolen, your statement preference for this account may default back to "Paper and online".

Please ensure you link your new credit card in ANZ Internet Banking and update your statement preferences if you don’t want to receive paper statements for this account

What happens if I have selected "Online only" and I do not receive the online statement notification?

There may be many reasons why you haven’t received the email notification:

  • the email address you have provided is incorrect
  • the email account has been closed
  • the email box is full
  • a spam filter has rejected the e-mail
  • there was an issue with the transmission of the e-mail

If we become aware that the notification email has failed, we will send you a paper copy of the statement that was subject to that notification.

Also, you may not have received an email notification if you have recently elected to receive your statements "Online only" but your next statement issue date is within 2 business days.  For subsequent statements issued thereafter, you'll receive an email notification
