Change my credit card type

To change your credit card type:

  • Go to the "View Accounts" landing page.
  • This is the first page you see when you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.
  • If you cannot locate it, go to the "Accounts" menu and select "View Accounts".
  • Select your credit card account by clicking on the account name.
  • Click on the "Change credit card type" link at the top of the page and follow the steps below.

Alternatively you can:

  • Go to the "Apply for" menu.
  • Select "Cards".
  • Click the "Change credit card type" link and follow the steps below.
Before requesting to change your credit card
  • Note that only the primary cardholder can request a change to the credit card type.
  • This service is available for personal credit cards only. To request a credit limit increase for a business credit card please visit your ANZ branch.
Step 1 - Print and complete the application form
  • Click on the "Transfer Between Card Accounts Application" link to open the PDF form.
  • Print the form using the print function on your browser.
  • Complete the application form and return it by mail to the address listed in the application form.
  • No stamp is required when sending this form back.

You will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view the PDF correctly. You will also need to have disabled pop-up blockers.

I am an additional cardholder. Can I request a change to the credit card type?

No. You must be a primary credit card holder to request a credit card type change.

  • Any additional cardholders will also be transferred to the new credit card account.
Which card number do I fill in if I have both ANZ American Express and Visa card?

If your ANZ Credit Card account has both ANZ American Express card and ANZ Visa card attached, you must fill in your ANZ Visa card number.

Can I request to change to a different ANZ Credit Card in another way?

Yes. You can also contact ANZ Cards Services team directly on 13 22 73 (International +61 3 9683 7043) 24 hours a day, seven days a week to arrange the transfer over the phone.

When will my existing ANZ Credit Card be closed?

If your application is approved, a new card account will be opened.

  • Your existing ANZ Credit Card account will be closed 14 days after ANZ's receipt of this application or on activation of your new card(s), whichever is the sooner.
Will my new card(s) have the same card number?

No. Your new card(s) will have a new card number and it is your responsibility to re-direct any automatic payments from your existing card account to your new card account.

How long will it take to send me a new card(s)?

The card(s) will be processed within four days of the application being approved by ANZ.

  • Your new ANZ Card(s) will be sent to your postal address within 14 days from this.
  • Your existing credit card account will be closed 14 days after ANZ's receipt of this application or on activation of your new card(s), whichever is the sooner.
Will my reward points be transferred over to my new credit card account?

ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum and ANZ Balance Visa

  • Any reward points that remain unused must be used within 60 days of the date of closure.
  • Reward points that remain unused on closed accounts after 60 days will be cancelled.

ANZ First and ANZ Platinum account holders

  • Members with the optional Sphere Rewards Program who are not transferring between ANZ First and ANZ Platinum must use their points within 60 days of the date of closure.
  • Points that remain unused on closed accounts after 60 days will be cancelled.
  • If you remain a member of the Sphere Rewards Program, then your points balance will transfer across.

ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold and ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum

  • All points are automatically credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account if you have provided ANZ your Qantas Frequent Flyer number.
  • If you have not provided ANZ with your Qantas Frequent Flyer number please do so before closing the account.
  • If ANZ does not receive the account holder's Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number within 60 days after the date of closure, the points in the points record in respect of the card as at that date will be cancelled and may not be credited to a Qantas Frequent Flyer program account.
Do I have to fill in the financial details section too?

The financial details section must be filled out by the residents of Australian Capital Territory (ACT) only.
