What is 3D Secure?

As part of our continuous effort to enhance security of online transaction, ANZ Credit Card introduces 3D Secure (3 Dimensional Secure) feature as a second level of authentication prior to performing your online transactions.

Features:

  • With 3D Secure, ANZ will send 6 digits random Authorization Code to your GSM mobile phone number via SMS. This will be used in every online transaction using ANZ Credit Card at all e-Commerce merchants which has logo Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code.
  • The Authorization Code can only be used once for every online transaction.

Please ensure you have the latest GSM mobile phone number registered in our system both for basic and supplementary cardholders. To update your mobile phone number, please call our 24-Hour ANZ Call Centre.

  1. What is 3D Secure?
    3D Secure is a new feature for ANZ Credit Card to enhance security of online transaction. ANZ will send 6 digits random passwords, called Authorization Code via SMS prior to performing online transaction using ANZ Credit Card on e-Commerce merchants which has logo Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code.

  2. How to receive Authorization Code?
    6 digits Authorization Code will be sent to ANZ Cardholder’s either basic or supplementary registered mobile phone number via SMS. To receive Authorization Code through SMS, you need to update both basic and supplementary mobile phone number through 24-Hour ANZ Call Centre.

  3. If my supplementary is doing transaction online at a 3D Secure merchant, where will the Authorization Code to be sent?
    If your supplementary is doing an online transaction with a 3D Secure merchant, the Authorization Code will be sent to supplementary’s mobile phone number that is registered in ANZ system, hence you need to ensure both basic and supplementary’s mobile phone number are updated.

  4. If I don’t get the Authorization Code due to bad signal or any other reason, will I still be able to complete online transaction?
    If the online merchant requires Authorization Code, then you need to enter the code. Failure to provide the Authorization Code will result in online merchant to not accept payment using ANZ Credit Card, so you will not be able to complete the online transaction. Cardholder need to call 24-Hour ANZ Call Centre to check whether the mobile phone number registered in ANZ system is correct, if not, then cardholder need to update the mobile phone number.

  5. How long is the validity of each Authorization Code?
    Authorization Code received via SMS is valid for 5 minutes. If you exceed the validity period, the Authorization Code will expire; and will go back to the main page. Cardholder can click ‘resend Authorization Code’ button to receive a new Authorization Code. ‘Resend Authorization Code’ can only be done 3 times.

  6. What if I input wrong Authorization Code?
    You can input Authorization Code to a maximum of 3 (Three) attempts, if you input more than 3 times, the credit card will be blocked from doing online transactions. Cardholder need to call 24-Hour ANZ Call Centre to re-activate the credit card.

  7. Why is Authorization Code important?
    Authorization Code is important as this is a second level authentication for online transaction. With this Authorization Code, you are ensured to have peace of mind when doing online transaction using ANZ Credit Card.

  8. Is the Authorization Code used for 3D Secure online transaction same as 6 digits PIN used for retail transaction?
    No, the Authorization Code used for 3D secure is only applicable one time per transaction at online merchants with logo Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode. The 6 digits PIN used for retail transaction is only for use at offline merchants and cash advance through ATM.

  9. Can I receive Authorization Code while I am overseas?
    Yes, you can still receive OTP when you are overseas if the registered GSM mobile phone number is also active abroad. Please check with your mobile provider for the roaming facilities.

  10. What happen if my mobile phone number is not updated in the bank and how to update my mobile phone number?
    You can contact 24 Hour Call Centre to update your registered mobile phone number.

  11. How long can I try to request Authorization Code after I update my mobile phone number?
    Please wait 5 working days for your new mobile phone effective in our system and ready to receive OTP.

  12. In which online merchants can we use 3D Secure?
    Online merchants which have logo Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code. Below are sample of online merchants which are already 3D Secure:
