What is SuperStream?

SuperStream refers to a number of Federal Government reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the superannuation system. One of the main SuperStream reforms is the introduction of new mandatory data and payment standards which stipulate what information must be provided by employers to their super fund, and how super funds will process electronic data and payments.

What do you need to do?

To get ready for the implementation of SuperStream, you need to:

  1. Ensure you have all the mandatory information required on your employees including their Full Name, Residential Address, Date of Birth, Gender and of course their Tax File Number
  2. Work with your super fund administrator(that might be a payroll provider) to register and use an electronic processing system, to upload all your employee super payment records in the prescribed format required.

By using EasyTransact to make your Superannuation Guarantee contributions for your employees you will automatically become compliant with the SuperStream electronic payment and data standards.

Get ready for SuperStream with EasyTransact today

To avoid penalties, employers must transition to the Federal Government’s SuperStream requirements between the following dates:

  • 1 July 2014 – 1 July 2015 – if you have 20 or more employees in accordance with the data and payment standards.
  • 1 July 2015 – 1 July 2016 – if you have fewer than 20 employees in accordance with the data and payment standards.

2. Ask your employees for their Tax File Number (TFN) now

Member super contributions will not be accepted without a TFN and you could be fined up to $1,700 (per employee) if it is not provided in your submission.

How?

  • You can use EasyTransact to provide employees' TFNs.
  • Members can provide us with their TFN online through logging into ANZ Internet Banking or by calling Customer Services on 13 12 87.
3. Register required employee details now

You will be required to register the following details for all new employees:

  • full name
  • residential address
  • phone number
  • and of course their Tax File Number.

Keeping this information up to date will assist all of your employees to stay in touch with their super and prevent their accounts from becoming 'lost'.

How?

  • You can use EasyTransact to register and update all mandatory employee details.
4. Encourage your employees to consolidate their accounts

Members can consolidate today by simply sending us a completed rollover form, including certified copies of their identification. We’ll do the rest, it's that easy.

It's important for your employees to speak to a financial adviser before consolidating funds and consider insurance and fee implications.

How?

  • If your member wishes to roll over their other super into their ANZ Smart Choice Super account, they can do so with just a few clicks.
  • Log on to ANZ Internet Banking, click on ANZ Smart Choice Super account and follow the simple prompts.
  • Members can easily register for ANZ Internet Banking by calling 1800 146 129.
5. Keep employee details up to date and let us know if they change jobs

A new job doesn't have to mean a new super account. Help your employees stay connected with their super by:

  • ensuring their details are kept up to date; and
  • notifying us when they leave employment. We can then make sure they have access to a Changing Jobs kit.

How?

  • EasyTransact is the convenient way for employers to keep all employee details up to date.
