It makes ANZ Contactless a more convenient payment method for those smaller everyday purchases. And when it comes to purchases $100 and over, you simply sign or enter your PIN as usual - easy.

Paying with ANZ Contactless
You can use your ANZ Visa payWave or ANZ MasterCard PayPass™ card at any contactless terminal - simply follow the steps below.
Step 1
Let the merchant know you'd like to use your ANZ Visa payWave or ANZ Mastercard PayPass™ card.
Step 2
Confirm the amount, follow the on-screen prompts and hold your card within a couple of centimetres of the contactless terminal.
Step 3
Wait until you hear a beep and see the lights illuminate. Then simply collect your receipt - if you'd like one - and you're done.

Is there any chance that payments may be taken twice from my account?
No. Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass™ terminals are only able to make one transaction at a time. As a safeguard, each transaction must be complete or void before another can take place.

How do I know when a payment has been made?
You'll see the lights illuminate and a display message confirming that your transaction has been successful.

Could I unknowingly make a purchase as I walk past the reader?
No. The retailer must have firstly entered the amount for you to approve, and then your card has to be held within a couple of centimetres of the terminal for longer than half a second.

How do I know that my transaction is secure?
ANZ Contactless transactions use the latest encryption technology, and are processed through the same, reliable payment network as chip card transactions - making them just as secure.

Can I use my card at retailers that accept Visa and MasterCard but don't have Visa payWave or MasterCard PayPass™ terminals?
Yes. Simply swipe or insert your card and go through the traditional payment process.

Do I need to select credit, savings, or cheque when I pay using ANZ Contactless?
No. When using the Contactless feature on your ANZ credit card, the transaction is automatically charged to your credit card account. If you are using an ANZ Access Visa Debit card, ANZ Business One Visa or ANZ Business Visa Debit the transaction will come from your linked everyday bank account that you access by pressing 'Savings' or 'Credit'.
