ANZ China has had a continuous presence in Mainland China since 1986 when a representative office was established in Beijing. In 1993, a branch was opened in Shanghai. The Beijing representative office was upgraded to Branch status in 1997. ANZ is also represented in Guangzhou through its Representation Office in that city.

Today, both ANZ Shanghai and Beijing are fully licensed foreign bank branches* and are amongst the most successful foreign banks in China.
