Seeds of Renewal

The Seeds of Renewal program is the result of a partnership between ANZ's Regional and Rural Banking team and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR). The program provides small grants to approved projects designed to increase the resilience and long-term sustainability of small rural communities.

ANZ has supported Seeds of Renewal since 2002, contributing more than $2 million - $450,000 this year alone. More than 450 projects have received Seeds of Renewal grants, including 97 projects across Australia in 2008.

Our partners, FRRR, selected the successful applicants using the Seeds 2008 criteria outlined below.

Among the 2008 grants was an $8,291 grant to Nimmitabel Public School, New South Wales, towards installing a wind-powered generator to reduce electricity costs and demonstrate environmental leadership. View the list of grant recipients (PDF, 60kb)

2008 Criteria

Preference was given to applications that contribute to:

  • Creating community wellbeing
  • Supporting volunteer initiatives at a local level
  • Diversifying local economies.

Additional criteria:

  • Groups must be from a community with a population of 15,000 people or less
  • Groups must be not-for-profit organisations with an ABN.
