Saver Plus

Saver Plus is a financial literacy and matched savings program assisting people on low incomes to improve their financial knowledge, build a long-term savings habit and save for their education purchases. Since the program started in 2003, we have helped 2,247 people save a total of $1,943,424. ANZ matches every dollar saved by participants up to $1,000 on completion of the program. We aim to help another 1,500 people in 2008. An RMIT evaluation of Saver Plus demonstrates the program's ongoing success finding 75% of participants continue to save the same amount or more, 12-24 months after completing the program.

Community Development Finance

Research commissioned by ANZ and conducted by Chant Link and Associates found that many Australians are struggling to access 'mainstream' banking. Community Development Finance is an umbrella term encompassing programs that aim to address financial exclusion. ANZ has committed to deliver a range of Community Development Finance programs to assist people facing financial hardship.

Community Giving

ANZ offers three types of Community Giving – staff, customer and shareholder. Community Giving enables ANZ to support different charities by offering people a range of donation options. In 2007, over $2.5 million was donated to charitable organisations through this program.

  • By Staff: through regular payroll deductions to one or more of 25 charities with donations matched dollar-for-dollar by ANZ up to $1,000 per person and $1 million each year;
  • By Customers: through online banking, customers are able to donate to one of 30 charities conveniently and directly from their account; and
  • By Shareholders: through the Dividend Donation Program, giving the opportunity for shareholders to elect to donate some or all of their cash dividend entitlements to a nominated charity. ANZ is the first Australian company serviced by the major share registries to offer shareholders the opportunity to donate their dividends to a choice of charities.

ANZ Volunteers

The ANZ Volunteers program offers all ANZ staff the equivalent of at least one day's paid leave to contribute their skills to community organisations. More than 7,000 staff in Australia, New Zealand and India volunteered over 73,000 hours during 2007 to work with many different local charities.

ANZ Community Fund

The ANZ Community Fund enables staff working in ANZ branches to provide support to unique, local causes. Through the Fund, local markets can offer in-kind support such as volunteering, access to business networks, in-branch promotions or expertise, in addition to financial assistance. This means the ANZ Community Fund is about building relationships and earning community trust, rather than merely donating money.
