ANZ's fully franked 2008 Final Dividend of 74 cents per ordinary share is payable on 18 December 2008.
The Record Date for the 2008 Final Dividend was 12 November 2008 (5.00pm Melbourne time).
ANZ has a policy that all dividends payable to shareholders in Australia, New Zealand or Great Britain will be paid by direct credit to their nominated financial institution account (excluding credit card accounts).
For those shareholders who will receive payment of the 2008 Final Dividend in New Zealand Dollars or Great Britain Pounds Sterling, the exchange rates that will be used are AUD/NZD 1.162475 and AUD/GBP 0.441819 respectively.
ANZ offers both a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) and a Bonus Option Plan (BOP) as alternatives to receiving cash dividends.
The Acquisition Price set in order to calculate the number of ordinary shares to be allotted under the DRP and BOP in respect of the 2008 Final Dividend is the arithmetic average of the daily volume weighted average sale price of all ANZ ordinary shares sold on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in the ordinary course of trading during the 15 trading days commencing on and including 14 November 2008, less a 1.5% discount and rounded to the nearest whole cent.
The discount of 1.5% used in determining the Acquisition Price will apply in respect of the 2008 Final Dividend and to future dividends until such time as ANZ announces otherwise.
As announced to the ASX, the Acquisition Price for the 2008 Final Dividend is AUD $13.58.
ANZ has also announced that it has entered into an Underwriting Agreement with UBS AG, Australia Branch (UBS) to underwrite the issue of a specified number of ANZ ordinary shares in respect of the balance of the 2008 Final Dividend not reinvested by shareholders in the DRP or foregone by shareholders under the BOP.
UBS will acquire 75 million ANZ ordinary shares in accordance with the Underwriting Agreement at a price per share equal to the arithmetic average of the daily volume weighted average sale price of all ANZ ordinary shares sold on the ASX in the ordinary course of trading during the 20 trading days commencing on and including 14 November 2008, rounded down to the nearest whole cent.
