A week in the life of a Relationship Manager

Name: Pang Siew Huey
Job Title: Head of Relationship Banking
Location: Singapore

Monday

First thing, I caught up with the news and my team over coffee. I manage a team of four and keeping the lines of communication open internally is the key to managing our external relationships with corporate and institutional banking customers. Spent the rest of the day touching base with customers.

Tuesday

Today, I had a quite a few meetings with customers, including an important teleconference. It's my job to understand our corporate and institutional customers, so that we can provide the best banking solutions. When you work so closely with customers, day in and day out, they soon become friends, which is really heartening.

Wednesday

We're putting together some important deals at the moment. Most of the morning I was meeting with our guys internally to work out some of the final details for one of our biggest deals. In the afternoon, I caught up with some paperwork and emails.

Thursday

Had a couple of big client meetings today, then some internal meetings to discuss our budget. I'm responsible for the Corporate and Institutional budget for Singapore, so it was great to see our work paying off - revenues are up and look like they will continue growing, just like my team (I'll be managing eight people soon).

Friday

Completed a major deal today, which is always a good feeling. Met with the client, who was happy, then met up with the team for a celebration. Nice note to end the week on.
