Australians are unique in the way in which we come together to help those in times of disaster and those in need. ANZ is proud to support the following community and charitable organisations:


Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Appeal


The aim of the intensive care appeal is save an additional 3,000 lives per year. Funds raised support medical research into key causes of loss of life and the overall prevention of critical illness in hospitalized patients.

ANZ supports the Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Appeal by selling Life Support glitter wristbands each year.

Daffodil Day - The Cancer Council Australia


Daffodil Day raises funds to support cancer research, in particular the causes and potential cures for a disease that affects almost one in three Australians. The Cancer Council also provides support programs for patients and their families, a cancer helpline, and education programs aimed at preventing cancer.

ANZ supports the Cancer Council's Daffodil Day by selling Daffodil Day merchandise each year.

Starlight Children's Foundation


Starlight raises funds to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families. Starlight's hospital programs aim to bring smiles to the faces of hospitalised children, using fun and entertainment as a positive distraction to pain and boredom. Out of hospital, Starlight kids and their families can relax and enjoy family outings provided, or share a once-in-a-lifetime experience through wish granting.

ANZ Supports Starlight Children's Foundation in many ways including, selling merchandise in branches, raising funds at the ANZ Ladies Masters, partnering Starlight in developing our corporate Christmas cards, and other staff fundraisers.

Taronga & Western Plains Zoo


Each March is ANZ Zoo month at Taronga and Western Plains Zoos. ANZ's involvement with the zoo reflects our commitment to conservation and sustainability. It provides an opportunity for our NSW staff to volunteer with the animals, and also for our customers to take advantage of some great offers during the month of March.

Royal Flying Doctors


The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) of Australia aeromedical emergency and primary health care services provide assistance to people who live, work and travel in regional and remote Australia.

ANZ supports the RFDS Wings for Life Appeal through sponsoring one of their PC-12 aircraft, staff volunteering support, and other corporate fundraising functions.

Seniors week


The Victorian Seniors Festival hosts a dynamic program featuring entertaining and diverse activities including concerts, dances and performances. The event program provides a great opportunity for local ANZ branches to build relationships and create dialogue with their senior customers.

Habitat for Humanity


Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit organisation dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable housing in partnership with low-income families. It relies heavily on volunteers, and homes are built and sold on a no-interest basis,
at less than market value.

ANZ is a founding sponsor of Habitat for Humanity Australia. Through our partnership with Habitat ANZ not only provides financial assistance, but also helps with the construction of Habitat homes through our community volunteering program.

ANZ is also helping Habitat families develop their financial skills by integrating ANZ's financial literacy program MoneyMinded into the Habitat program. This program has a particular focus on helping the most vulnerable people in the community and is particularly valuable for those families who are unsuccessful in selection to help them increase their chances of success in the future.

The Mater Hospital


Since 1906 the Mater Hospitals in Brisbane have cared for hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders. Through their Medical Research Institute the Mater is now leading the way in cancer research, particularly in the field of Prostate Cancer. The Mater name is extremely well regarded in Qld and is synonymous with their values of mercy, dignity, care, compassion and quality.

ANZ has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Mater since at least 1958, when financing the completion of the construction of the Mater Mothers' Hospital.

In parallel with our core banking relationship, we have recognised importance to the community and support the Mater through various fund-raising initiatives and concessional banking.

L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival ANZ Retail Workshops


As part of the 2005 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, ANZ sponsored an exciting new initiative for Australian retail professionals – The ANZ Retail Workshops. Over 200 current and aspiring retailers attended the workshops to discover the highlights and pitfalls of retail from industry experts.

In the first workshop - 'Retail Rescue' - Kevin Winterburn of Ferrier Hodgson spoke about the early indicators of underperformance in retail. Peter Holland from ANZ's Corporate Portfolio Management presented on the 'rescue' of retailers who find themselves in trouble. Steven Fisher, CEO of Voyager Distribution Group, James Stewart, Practice Leader Retail of Ferrier Hodgson, Bianca Wiegard, Founder of FAT and Derham Moss, Founder of sabi joined the presenters for a lively panel discussion with questions from audience members.

The second workshop examined the importance of branding to a retail operation. Simon de Winter spoke about building a brand, using the Kayser Brazilian case study. Margaret Porritt, CEO of Feathers discussed sustaining a brand and Paul Moore, CEO of Pacific Brands presented the Bonds story of how to rejuvenate a brand.

Austrade ASEAN Seminars


In May 2005 ANZ partnered with Austrade to sponsor a seminar series on "Business Realities and Opportunities in South East Asia".

Trade in South East Asian is worth over AUD900 billion annually, and is a vital region for new and established Australian exporters.

ANZ's involvement with Austrade and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, demonstrates the bank's commitment and expertise throughout South East Asia. The seminars were held in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

 
 


Finance and Treasury Congress


The Finance and Treasury Association Annual Congress is a key industry forum for treasury and finance professionals in Australia. ANZ has sponsored the Congress for a number of years and sees it as a key opportunity for professionals in the industry to make contacts and build relationships.

ANZ industry experts are often invited to present on relevant topics at this event.

In addition to the main Congress, ANZ also sponsors a business breakfast during the event. This breakfast features a presentation by a prominent businesswoman. Past speakers include Margaret Jackson and Elizabeth Proust.

UDIA (QLD) State Conference


The Urban Development Institute of Australia (QLD) is one of the State's most successful and credible industry bodies, a non-profit organisation representing all segments of the development industry.

The UDIA (QLD) State Conference is an opportunity for the industry to come together and address key trends and issues. Speakers are selected for their insight into a range of topics identified to be of immediate relevance to the wider industry.

ANZ Stadium


In 2008, ANZ acquired a seven-year naming rights sponsorship of ANZ Stadium. The stadium is one of the world's great sporting and entertainment arenas and because of the 2000 Olympics, holds a unique place in the hearts of all Australians.

Australians are passionate about their sport and we see this partnership as a sign of ANZ's continuing commitment both to New South Wales and to all levels of sport in Australia and New Zealand.

ANZ Championship


2008 sees the launch of a new elite netball competition - the ANZ Championship.

The ANZ Championship consists of 69 games played over 17 weeks across Australia and New Zealand, Games will be broadcast live on both Sky Sports New Zealand and Fox Sports Australia. New Zealand teams and Australian teams will compete.

ANZ is pleased to be supporting this leading sport for women's participation and we look forward to the continued growth of Netball across the Tasman as a result of the competition.

ANZ's involvement in women's golf reflects our commitment to excellence, diversity and acknowledging the strength and dedication of our athletes. It also provides our junior athletes the opportunity to compete in international golf tournaments, of which only two are played in Australia.

The Australian Women in Leadership Census measures the status of women on boards and women executive managers in Australia's top 200 organisations listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Wicked - The Broadway Musical


ANZ is the presenting sponsor of WICKED, one of the world's most successful Broadway musicals, for its Australian Premiere Season.

WICKED, the winner of a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz and features the previously untold story of the witches of Oz.

Melbourne's historic Regent Theatre will play host to WICKED for an open ended season commencing 12 July 2008.

Sydney Festival


ANZ is supporting Sydney Festival as a Leadership Partner of the event. Sydney Festival is one of Australia's largest annual cultural celebrations with an international reputation for modern, popular and intelligent programming. In many ways it is probably still best understood as a celebration of Sydney and its style and energy; reflecting the confidence, diversity and vigour of one of the world's most beautiful cities.

For three weeks each January, the Festival offers a rich program of around 80 events involving upwards of 500 artists from Australia and abroad covering dance, theatre, music, visual arts, cross media and forums.

The Victorian College of the Arts


ANZ, in conjunction with the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Art created the ANZ Visual Arts Fellowship for final year students in the Graduate Diploma in Visual Art, Master of Visual Art and Master of Fine Art courses.

The aim of the Fellowship is to provide financial support to young artists following their postgraduate course, during the early part of their professional career.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival


ANZ's support for the Comedy Festival, and in particular, the Annual Great Debate and the touring Road show, is focused on providing engagement opportunities for our staff.

ANZ Private Bank – Emerging Artists


ANZ Private Bank Emerging Artists Program is a unique initiative that sees the work of 8 emerging artists featured on the back cover of Art & Australia magazine.

Conceived as a way of providing much needed support and encouragement for artists in their first period of practice. The artists involved are nominated and selected by the Art & Australia Editorial Advisory Board in consultation with ANZ Private Bank.
