As a trustee of over 230 charitable foundations, ANZ Trustees has the discretion as to amounts and recipients of philanthropic funds. Prior to exercising that discretion, ANZ Trustees seeks to understand community needs, what charities do and how funds can create the greatest benefit.
In 2008, ANZ Trustees generated over $66 million for charitable distribution and made grants to 1600 Australian charities and not-for-profit organisations.
ANZ Trustees manages over 40 grant programs. The size of grants can range from $1,000 to $5.7 million, and each grant program has its own guidelines and closing date for applications. A range of grant programs are available from educational, medical to indigenous and more. We want to help charities that approach social problems in smart, contemporary and creative ways.
As you would appreciate, the community need for charitable money is always greater than the funds available. Most grants programs are competitive merit-based programs and awarded to projects that best match the grant guidelines and are assessed as likely to have the most positive social impact. Some grant programs are by invitation only.
