Our response to the social and environmental issues we identify in our business is guided by our policies.
ANZ is in the process of preparing a set of public policies and guidelines which will describe in detail how we make our decisions on transactions which have a potential impact on the environment, or raise social policy or ethical issues.
We are engaging with a broad spectrum of stakeholders as part of the development of the policies. While we cannot meet the needs and expectations of all of our stakeholders, these policies will ensure we remain accountable to a set of core social and environmental standards and allows any concerned stakeholder to raise instances where they believe we have fallen below those standards.
The Forests Policy will be the first of these policies. Policies on water, mining and energy will follow.
