Engagement with suppliers is essential to our environmental and social performance and we aim to develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
We continually engage with significant suppliers to gain an understanding of best practice management in their particular industry and how, together, we can best incorporate these standards and behaviours into our operations.
Our Sustainability Code of Practice (PDF, 36kb) requires that our most significant suppliers (in terms of spend and potential social and environmental impact) adhere to a minimum set of standards. This is incorporated into the contract between ANZ and the supplier. Through our dialogue with these suppliers, any gaps and additional initiatives are identified and monitored as a Supplier Sustainability Action Plan. These action plans record and track our engagement with suppliers and document performance improvements.
Similarly, the Sustainability Self-Assessment Tool (xls, 74kb) used by smaller suppliers is the starting point for us and our suppliers to work together to ensure their activities meet our social and environmental standards. ANZ reviews the self-assessments of these suppliers annually and, where relevant, develops Supplier Sustainability Action Plans to address any areas for improvement. We monitor progress on these action plans regularly.
