Choosing Strategies and Viewing Results

The 'Goalseek' Screen presents you with one or more options for achieving your goal. Each option involves making a specified change to a Business Driver figure.

These options are shown in the 'Solve' column (the variation shown is compared to existing Business Driver figures displayed in the 'From' Column).

  Choose your Strategy/ies

To achieve your goal, you may choose either a 'single strategy' or 'multiple strategy' approach.

Single Strategy
This process is used when you want to solve the 'Goal' using only a single Business Driver. To explain, in the example above, you may want to reach your goal by increasing the 'Price Increase' item to 20.14.

Multiple Strategy 'Goalseek's
This process allows you to achieve the 'Goal' or objective using a combination of Business Drivers. In the example above, you may want to reach your goal by reducing 'ACC Receivable Days' to 66, decreasing the 'COGS%' to 60, increasing 'Revenue Growth' to 13, and so on.

Multiple Strategy 'Goalseeking' is useful when several outcomes have been presented, and you might wish to implement a combination of changes in the business over a period of time.

To view the total impact on the objective or goal, key the potential improvement for each Business Driver into the 'Strategy' column.

The gauge on the left hand side of the screen will show your progress toward meeting your goal.

You may perform as many combinations of strategies as you wish until you find the one you wish to implement.

  Apply your strategies

To apply your chosen 'Goalseek' Strategy:

• Key your chosen Single or Multiple Business Driver strategy into the 'Strategy' column.
  
  
• Select the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the page.
  
  
• The Strategy Screen will appear with the altered Business Driver figures displayed.
  
  
• Highlight the changes you have made by selecting the Net Change icon from the top of the screen (The Net Change function is described more fully in a previous module).
