How to do a 'What-if'

You can perform a 'What-if' on the Strategy Screen.

You can carry out a 'What-if' on any Business Driver (Left Hand Panel) or any of the figures in the Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet (Central Panel), including detailed figures. You can not perform a ‘What-if’ on a figure in the Right Hand Panel, as this is where the results of a 'What-if' are shown

To perform a 'What-if' in the Strategy Screen:

  • key the desired or forecasted figure that you would like to test in the appropriate ‘What-if’ cell in the Left Hand or Central Panel

  • then press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard.

In the screen shot below, we have indicated where you can perform a ‘What-if’ by highlighting the "'What-if' sensitive cells" green.

You can only perform a 'What-if' on the white cells, and their respective detailed line items, of your Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet. On the Balance Sheet, you will also be prevented from performing a 'What-if' on Short Term Debt and Retained Earnings as they are auto-calculated cells on the Strategy Screen.

Please Note: Occasionally if a User enters an illogical 'What-if', ANZ Impact™ will present an "Error" message. This message will only be generated in extreme cases where the normal relationships between Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet do not exist, or an unrealistic variation is entered (eg. Interest rate increase of 500%). This message may indicate an incorrect entry of data into the ANZ Impact™ categories. It is advised that you should check the data if this message occurs.
