David Whitby

David’s appointment as President and CEO for ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™ began in September 2008. David has a wealth of banking experience with ANZ, where he has developed skills across a broad range of functions including human resources, consumer and business lending, sales, change management and operational excellence.

Since 2002 David has been Regional Manager for South Western Australia in the Regional and Rural business, where he has been responsible for all ANZ’s business in the region, including the management of 135 sales and service staff.

Steven Watson
Head of Consumer Lending, ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™

Steve is the Department Head for Consumer Lending responsible for managing the loan and collection department activities throughout all branches of ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™.

Steve joined Amerika Samoa Bank in 1993 as Vice President and Chief Lending Officer and was promoted to Senior Vice President of the bank in 1996.  

Since then Steve has held several senior management positions in Credit, Compliance, Business Banking, Mortgages and Branch Management, overseeing both Retail and Commercial businesses.

Steve has more than 30 years experience in American Samoa and has also held several positions with the American Samoa Government, which included Chief of Staff to the Governor of American Samoa and Assistant Attorney General. He is an experienced Attorney at Law with 19 years practice both in California and American Samoa.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate from San Diego School of Law.

Salaia Gabbard
Marketing & Sales Training Manager, ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™

Salaia is the Head of the Marketing Department in ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™, responsible for managing all marketing campaigns, advertising, promotional activities, community service and pubic relation events as well as sales training for both local and regional staff in the Pacific countries.

Salaia joined ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™ in 1999 as Assistant Credit Administrator, supporting all lending, credit administration and collection departments.

Since then Salaia has held several management positions in Consumer, Business and Mortgage Lending as well as Sales Transformation, Customer Advocate, Marketing and Community Affairs.

Salaia has more than nine years with ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank™.

Salaia holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from San Francisco State University, California.
