2009 Half Year Results and Live Webcast - Wednesday, 29 April 2009

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) announced on Wednesday, 29 April 2009 an underlying profit^{^} of $1,908 million up 20% on the preceding period (up 4% on the prior comparable period) for the Half-year ended 31 March 2009.

^adjusted to reflect results for the ongoing business activities of the Group. Refer pages 13-14 of the ANZ condensed consolidated Financial Report, Dividend Announcement and Appendix 4D for the half year 31 March 2009.

The proposed interim dividend is 46 cents per ordinary share, fully franked.

CEO Michael Smith and CFO Peter Marriott will brief investors and analysts from 10:30am AEST. This briefing is being webcast live for the convenience of all Shareholders and will be archived on the site for viewing shortly after the live event.
