ANZ paid a fully franked 2009 Interim Dividend of 46 cents per ordinary share on 1 July 2009.

The Record Date for the 2009 Interim Dividend was 13 May 2009.

Cash Dividends

ANZ has a policy that all dividends payable to shareholders in Australia, New Zealand or Great Britain will be paid by direct credit to their nominated financial institution account (excluding credit card accounts).

For those shareholders who were entitled to receive payment of the 2009 Interim Dividend in New Zealand Dollars or Great Britain Pounds Sterling, the exchange rates that were used were AUD/NZD 1.277942 and AUD/GBP 0.495512 respectively.

Shares Alternatives

ANZ offers both a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) and a Bonus Option Plan (BOP) as alternatives to receiving cash dividends.

The Acquisition Price set in order to calculate the number of ordinary shares to be allotted under the DRP and BOP in respect of the 2009 Interim Dividend was the arithmetic average of the daily volume weighted average sale price of all ANZ ordinary shares sold on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in the ordinary course of trading during the seven trading days commencing on and including 15 May 2009 as determined in accordance with the DRP and BOP terms and conditions, less a 1.5% discount and rounded to the nearest whole cent.

As announced to the ASX, the Acquisition Price for the 2009 Interim Dividend was AUD15.16.

Dividend Donations to Charity

ANZ offers a Dividend Charity Donation Program, enabling ANZ shareholders who are Australian resident taxpayers to donate some or all of the cash dividends on their ANZ ordinary shares to one of a number of charities.
