We are creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and providing employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged and under-represented communities.
Eski Mengistie joined ANZ through The Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Given the Chance refugee employment program in 2009. “Being back in the workforce really builds your confidence and makes you feel like you’re part of the community,” said Eski. “It is also rewarding to be able to make a contribution back to this community”.
Given the Chance participants are provided a work placement supported by pre-employment training, a mentor and buddy who can help ease the transition into the Australian work environment. Around 70 percent of refugees who have joined ANZ through the program have stayed and are among our most engaged people.
