Over the next five months around 6,500 ANZ employees will move to ANZ Centre, ANZ’s new global headquarters, designed to provide our people with a vibrant and healthy place to work.
When completed, ANZ Centre will be the largest commercial office building in Australia and one of the most environmentally progressive workplaces in the world.
Features include the use of river water for air conditioning and on-site generation of electricity using natural gas and black water recycling. It is estimated the building will produce 70% less greenhouse gas emissions than a standard commercial office building.
Innovation has not been limited to environmental features. Its design has been tailored to the way we want to work and includes several features to support the health and wellbeing of employees, including:
- a variety of innovative and flexible work zones, allowing staff space to either work collaboratively or individually as required;
- maximum use of natural light from the 10-storey atrium and fresh air intake that exceeds Australian building standards;
- 500 bicycle spaces and easy access to bike paths for staff who wish to reduce their travel footprint; and
- a wellness centre offering a range of health and wellbeing programs for staff.
“Our aim is to create a place where people enjoy coming to work and which actively supports them to do their job as efficiently and effectively as possible,” says David Cartwright, Group General Manager Operations Technology and Shared Services.
“It has been purpose-built for our needs following consultation with many of our people. It will be a strong symbol of our plans for the future as well as our long-term commitment to our employees.”
